Came covered in a greasy slime to help prevent the rust, the jaws dont bite evenly. But again junk from china is just that. I bought an Excell one way higher quality. Dont waste your money.

For the price, I can't complain too much. However...The smaller two vices are near-useless. The collet is cut offset from center, and does not have a centering bevel. The few bits you can manage to jam into the collet will sit off-center and slightly askew. Given the size and shape, it may be possible to replace the collet in the two smaller vices with nylon slugs and hand-cut the clamp slots. As they stand "out of the box" they are useless garbage. The two larger vices are spot-on, and work perfectly. The collet slots are centered, reasonably clean from burrs (not perfect, but 'good enough'), and have centering bevels drilled into the center. Worked fantastically for 2mm-3.5mm bits. I really appreciate the flared design of the knurled grip section where it joins the collet - made it extremely comfortable to wield and use to ream out clogged passages. If you need some pin vices for >1mm drill bits, then this set should do really well after cleaning off the rank tool oil and re-oiling with something that doesn't smell like rotten gym socks (3-in-1 or mineral oil work great). If you need pin vices for micro-fine bits (.15mm up to .95mm), look elsewhere. You're just going to get frustrated. If you're willing to re-machine collets for the two smaller vices, then you'll find them just as functional as their bigger brothers. However, if you're willing to go that route, you're wasting time and money on something you could have already made yourself - just do it right from the word 'go'.Splitting the difference: 5 stars for the two larger vices, 1 star for the two smaller, averaging it out to 3 stars for the set

Great product for reletively low cost! I now have four sizes for the cost of one Starrett, which I had in my cart but decided to try these first for the minimal use I require. No regrets! These pin vises honestly work well!! I use them for custom carburetor work. I looked hard at each one for any flaws and found none. Look, feel and function of a quality product. They come in a handy plastic tube to keep them together. Unlike other reviews, they were not at all greasy when I received them either. Clean, neat packaging and well presented. If you have any mechanical ability or know how to use them already, I think you will be pleased with this very nice pin vise set! Thanks!

I bought these for doing watch repair/modification, and for holding small parts for grinding and polishing. I already have a proper setup for drilling small precision holes so I don't need these to be chucked up in a drill press using a 1/2 inch chuck, or even a hand drill chuck. So, not sure what the runout of these things are, but given the price I wouldn't expect them to be dead-nuts accurate, ya know what I mean? For my intended purpose, these work very well. I can hold very small screws and pins and with enough force to perform file work and grinding on very small pieces. I have also been able to chuck up a small drill bit to clean up already driled holes and to slightly enlarge drilled holes in order to properly fit pins by hand. They are substantially built, which is nice. They feel heavy-duty and not cheap. However, they do need some cleaning up as they are shipped with a heavy coating of a cosmoline-type lubricant. Personally, I liked that as I was sure that there was no corrosion in areas I could not see. They also need a little de-burring with a small file in the jaw area, but we're not talking Starret, we're talking about something that your interested in because you don't want to pay those prices. So, you wouldn't be looking at these if you wanted a "for sure" high-quality pin vise. You're here because you're hoping that these "cheaper" pin vises will do what you need them to do without costing an arm and a leg. For me, they more than sufficed. I needed them to hold small pins and screws for grinding and polishing. If you're wanting some sort of adapter solution for powered drilling where you really should be using the proper tooling, then you're probably going to be betting on a hit or miss situation where some of these may work, and others may not.In any case, I'm giving this product 5 stars because of the price point, and that more than satisfied my requirements.

I have no idea what the people who rated these pin vises highly did with them. They do not work at all for me. Drill bits tip and wobble, despite tightening the chuck. Close examination of the collets shows them to be made in a slipshod fashion. The cuts that create the jaws are not centered. They will not hold a bit in alignment with the long axis of the vise. It is impossible to drill with a bit that is held in this wobbly fashion. The reason they are unbelievably cheap is that they are worthless. For just a few dollars more you can buy one of the many pin vises that actually work as designed.

I have an R/C Hanger of 3 helicopters and 3 airplanes and fly a lot. Like most hobbies, the R/C models take some repair and modification. These pin vises are professional quality at hobby price! Great value for money! If you use one of the pin vises, one time, you've got your value for the money you spent! Once you've used these one time, you'd expect to see them in a professional machinist toolbox, not your hobby tool kit! You'll spend a few minutes wiping the preservative oil off of the them, I added a small amount of white lithium grease to the collet threads to make the collet easier to tighten/loosen, but these things are great for the few bucks you pay for them!
