Rurtec MatingMark Sheep and Goat Mating Crayon Markers- 3 Pack- COLD Temperature- RED, BLUE, GREEN- Compatible with all breeding harnesses.Proudly Made in New ZealandYou've read the specs at the top of the page, now hear what real farmers think of the Rurtec MatingMark Crayon Ram Harness System:“After I picked up the MATINGMARK Hot Crayons, they sat in the HOT truck all day and didn't melt at all. Temps were only in the upper 80's (oF) but the inside of the truck got really hot. Past crayons were so soft that they were almost gushy in our truly hot weather. I would find soft blobs of crayon on the ground where the rams had been lying. I also had streaks of color down the ram's front legs. And these were marked as hot weather crayons.I like the MATINGMARK harnesses - they are easy to put on and the straps are wider than the other harnesses that I've had which seems to help with the abrading issue. I haven't seen any abrasions from the MATINGMARK harnesses on any of the rams. This is the first time that I've successfully used marking harnesses."Robin Snyder - Spinner, weaver, shepherd - San Diego, California"Crayon replacement is particularly easy - it just clicks in and out without screwdrivers or pins - and the MATINGMARK crayons give a clear and reliable mark. The extra wide webbing is also excellent. It ensures that the harness stays in the middle of the brisket - preventing slippages which wound the ram. MATINGMARK is a marvellous invention. Based on my experience, my neighbours have now switiched to MATINGMARK also.”Bill & Colin Woodcock - Northumberland, United Kingdom Trusted by farmers and shepherds around the world. This product works but maybe a little too much. Red might not be the best color. Looked like a scene from a horror film.

Seemed like the crayon was able to rub onto things, unfortunately the harness was too big for the ram, so I never got a proper test at very low temperatures.

I bought these back in August to make sure that I have them ready. Stupid me I didn’t check them and now that I finally need them it turns out they’re all missing the cotter pins. What a pain now trying to find these pins. Disappointing

They worked very well to temps of -15°C. The housing is plastic but held up well. There was sufficient wax for 34 days of a ram covering 50 ewes.

We lamb in January and February and accurate breeding dates are critical with the cold weather. These DO NOT WORK. I purchased two different packages with two different sets of colors because I have 4 rams. The first couple days the markers left barely visible marks, unlike the brand that I usually buy. I have no idea who is bred and have been reduced to looking for mud that possibly indicates that the ram jumped on the ewe. Not only did they not work, but they do not come with the tabs or cotter key to hold them onto the harness. I had a couple old ones and had to fashion a couple from wire. It is not just the $40 I am out from the purchase, but more importantly it will be the lambs that I lose to the cold weather because I do not have any breeding information. I have learned my lesson and will only purchase them locally.
