Put this on my mountain bike, set up pretty easily. Front derailleurs can be persnickety to set up, I got this tuned in relatively quickly. I also added the shifters from this line at the same time.

My former derraileur broke during a trip. So I bought this product as a replacement. The first and most notorious difference I could perceive was the quality and de resistance of the metal parts inspite the light weight.Gear changes are soft and with very little noise. The installatio is easy, I did it myself and it has a small visual guide to help you position it in reference to the sprocket's teeth.Totally recommendable.

Works well but fiddly to install with the spacers needed to match 31.8mm tube it mounts on.

the ad states that this derailleur will work on both 2 or 3 gear bikes. after adjusting it for over an houri could only get it to shift on 2 gears.

Having worked on Shimano derailleurs for forty years it is too bad it has come down to how cheap can you make it. My KMC chain on my GMC Denali did not have a master link, cheap, so I was screwed. There being no way to separate the guide on the derailleur easily, I drilled out the rivet and passed my chain through and inserted a screw and nut. The directions were non-existent, basically protecting themselves against product failure. This is not the way Shimano used to be. If you don't know how a derailleur worked before you got it, you were not going to find out through the directions. There were no cable routing direction, no directions for the spacers or where the cable went in the clamp. You are on your own. The only great thing is the price, but I would have paid twenty dollars for better quality. It is great that this is a low mount, whoever put the high mount derailleur on my Denali must have saved a few pennies at the cost of the customer, the high mount didn't fit due to bump on frame. It did not function. I haven't rode more than adjusting, so no durability review yet, but I expect it to work fine.

It came quick fast and in a hurry. For that I am thankful. I used this on my "lipstick on a pig" build. I built up an older late 90's sears mountain bike (Free Spirit Octane). From what I’ve been reading this is Shimano's new budget lineup for July 2015 (tx800 series). It came with a set-up sticker so you can quickly get it on. You can use it on either top or bottom pull cable routing systems, and it came with shims to fit onto 3 different size frames. As far as the shifting action when and accuracy, it is definitely the best I’ve ever had in a budget front derailleur, it holds adjustments well and I don't think I could have gotten a better deal anywhere else.
