My kids love to play with chalk outside and this is such a great product. Super easy to use and alot of fun. Affordable and good quality and the chalk fits perfectly into the holders.

These pieces are easy enough to fit chalk in. It’s still a bit messy but that’s to be expected. I wish they made these with stronger plastic as these are too flimsy to be long-lasting. At this price point I expected them to be made better.

I do a lot of chalk doodles on the sidewalk. I used the holders this morning and it made my fingers and hands happy to not get scraped up by the cement as the chalk wore down. Some of the holders are adjustable for slight variations in size, but they are intended for the large sticks of sidewalk chalk.Recommend.

My daughter loves to play with chalk! This multipack seemed like a good way to give her some easier ways to make her artwork with less mess and difficulty with some of the trickier or more repetitive types of designs. Unfortunately, while a great concept in theory, it's a bit hit or miss on the results. Out of the 9 tools, 2 of them are "3 Socket Holders" (3 pieces of chalk held close together in a line), 2 are "Transverse Holders" (holds a piece of chalk sideways for thick marks), 3 are Jumbo Chalk Holders (lets you hold a single piece of chalk without getting chalk dust all over your hands), 1 is a compass tool, and the last one is a "Rainbow Rake" (3 pieces of chalk spread out like a crazy fingered hand). Two of the tool types (the 3 Socket Holder and Transverse Holders) are basically total busts (defined as them barely working at best with a lot of fiddling, but usually actively causing harm to either the user or the chalk pieces), 1 works ok (the compass, which works as intended with some fiddling), and 2 work great (the Rainbow Rake and individual chalk holders). The 3 Socket Holders look cool, but right off the bat it's pretty obvious it doesn't work too well unless all 3 pieces of chalk are basically the same length otherwise you can't make contact with the cement with all of them at the same time. Once you find 3 pieces of identical length (basically impossible unless you have fresh unused pieces), the tool depends on little spurs that you poke into the chalk to hold them in place within the socket. These spurs not only fail to securely hold the chalk (we had several pieces suddenly fall out of the socket and break on the ground), they also tend to weaken the chalk so they're more easily broken after using the tool. The last picture I attached shows how "well" the transverse holder works. The line on the left is what I got when I carefully scrubbed the chalk against the sidewalk in a line 5 times up and down using the tool. The one on the right was a single stroke down and back up with the tool. As you can see, the coverage is lacking. Besides that, the chalk is held in place by the same plastic spurs that the 3 socket holder uses, with similarly poor results. The chalk tends to fall out as you're trying to drag it along the concrete, which caused my daughter to scrape her hand along the concrete a lot. Ouch! The compass holder works fairly well. It ratchets out to the size you want fairly easily and does a reasonable job at holding the chalk at the right length. It would be better if there was a back to help keep the chalk from sliding up through the holder, but for the most part it held well when we tested it making circles for smiley faces (pictured). Both the Rainbow Rake and the Jumbo Chalk Holder worked exactly as intended. The chalk holder is great for letting you enjoy the creativity of playing with chalk but without getting chalk dust all over your hands. This was a big win for my husband, who loves playing with his daughter but really hates getting chalk on his hands. The Rainbow Rake was dubbed the "Crazy Hands" tool, and my daughter had a lot of fun with it. Unlike the 3 chalk holder, this tool can handle chalk pieces of different lengths, since the "fingers" are wiggly enough to have some give to help make sure all the pieces touch the ground, and it just changes the spacing between the lines a little. The tools that work well are really nice and useful, but at this price, I'd expect more than just half of the included tools to be useful.

This was a good idea but doesn't execute well. The 3 holder chalk pieces don't hold the chalk. The handle that holds chalk on the side doesn't work after the chalk is used just a little bit. It wears down and then it's too far inside the handle to work. The compass piece doesn't hold the chalk either. The piece that has a longer skinny handle to hold 3 pieces: 2 pieces hold, the 3rd doesn't. This was a good idea but doesn't work well. I used the large size chubby chalks so it wasn't the size of the chalk.

These chalk tools look like great fun. We won't really know till someone opens the box on Christmas day.

These tools aren't the nicest quality of plastic but they're fun and keep my kid entertained for long periods of time so I'm happy with them in general. I do wish they were either higher quality or lower in cost but I feel that way about most thing so...could be a "me" problem. Most round chalks fit well into the necessary spaces but I do find that the squared-off shape of my daughter's favorite chalk brand doesn't fit quite so well. It's alright though, she still loves these tools enough to put up with other chalk.
