Disclaimer: Product descriptions typically provide information about what products claim to do, so I like to focus my reviews more on the negative aspects of products to make other people aware of issues or concerns before purchasing. My reviews are based on specific tests that I conduct, so others may not experience the same results or share the same opinion.Overview:I'm a geek for tech products, and this is the first time I've seen a phone mount that does facial tracking without an app.Negative(s):-Tight spring on phone mount-Mount doesn't extend-Hand gestures don't always work-Little bit of lag tracking-Only rotates horizontally, not verticallyConclusion:This is an cool phone mount/stand that can track your face without the use of any apps or Bluetooth, which is a big plus. Not sure how, but it does a pretty good job at it too. It was a little challenging putting my phone into the mount, because the springs were super tight and hard to expand. There's a physical switch on the body of the phone holder to set when you're sitting or standing. Not sure what the difference is really. There is a bit of lag with tracking, but I walked back and forth with my head turned to the side and it could still track my face so that was good. Unfortunately, it only rotates horizontally (left and right), not vertically (up and down) so if you go from standing to sitting, it won't be able to track your face. The mount itself also doesn't extend, but you can put this on a tripod for added height by unscrewing the included base and screwing it on a tripod with a 1/4 male thread. There are 2 hand gesture controls you can make to pause the tracking (show the palm of your hand) and to activate tracking with an "okay" hand gesture. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Also, if you have a Samsung and you're using the selfie mode, showing your palm will take a photo, so I accidentally did that a few times.Do any of the negative(s) affect my overall rating and/or recommendation? No, not really. I knocked off 1 star for the negatives, but they're not deal breakers if you know what the cons are about this. It's still a pretty neat gadget, and I can see how it can be useful if you're facetiming someone, and cooking at the same time, and this thing would be able to keep you in the frame. I would recommend this product.

This came packaged nicely and securely with easy-to-follow instructions/guides. The device itself is light and doesn't take up much space either, along with being able to install it on relatively universal thread mounts. I love that this doesn't need an app to run, as the camera on the front does all the tracking for you, and if you want to adjust the height it sees, you just manually adjust the lens up and down, depending on your need. This holds my iPhone 13 Pro perfectly. I do want to test its ability to hold more weight using an airplay screen attached to the back of my phone so I can use the higher quality lens on the back – as this is more meant for your front-facing camera so you can see yourself. The following speed is on the slower side, so if you're REALLY moving around a lot and you're within a few feet, it'll need time to follow, but if you're farther back and it has more space to work with, you should be able to move more without it struggling to follow along. This would work really well for teachers at the front of a class or if your vlogging in a smaller room and want to stay center-framed.

I had my doubts but this actually works. It is fantastic. If you are doing a video call with someone on your phone and know that you are going to be hands-free and moving around. It really does follow you wherever you go. The only thing to be aware of is that if there are multiple people it will pick one to follow and in order to get it to let them go they need to turn around so their face is no longer looking at the camera. I love that you don't have to pair it with your phone in order for it to work and that it doesn't need anything else to follow your face. It's literally just turn it on and it goes and does what it's supposed to. How great is that?! The battery life is decent and I haven't had to recharge it yet. I have already recommended it to several friends who I know do a lot of zoom meetings.

While a cool and simple idea, this Kalofaye Smart Tracking Tripod has impressed me profoundly for many reasons, offering a compelling package for creators on a budget, but it can be attractive even for those considering more expensive options. Here's what impressed me:• Impressive tracking. The built-in camera delivers hands-free and smooth tracking, keeping you in frame during videos and live streams, no matter where you go: front, side, or back of the tripod. And you can gesture it to stop or pausing recording!• Simple setup. No need to download apps or fiddle with Bluetooth connections. Just power it on and you're ready to go.• Broad compatibility. Works with most if not all video apps and all smartphones, independently from OS or brand.• Budget-friendly. I couldn’t believe the price! Kalofaye offers features that I would expect to find only in much more expensive products.• Battery life seems excellent. I haven’t run out of charge yet, and I have used it for a while. It uses USB-C cable.• Removable base so you can attach it to an actual tripod. But before you buy, please note that while it boasts many strengths, it's worth considering some potential drawbacks:• Limited control. Without an app, you might miss features like granular control over tracking sensitivity. To be honest, I didn’t feel the need for that, but you might.• Durability. That’s my real and only concern here. It is made of a type of plastic that doesn’t feel very durable.Overall, it is a great option for creators and even casual users seeking a user-friendly and affordable way to achieve hands-free filming. It delivers way more than you would expect at a budget-friendly cost. Just be mindful of the potential limitations in control and durability. Again, not an issue in my experience. This is probably the one thing that has impressed me the most recently.
