I installed this product about a week and a half ago and I'm pleasantly surprised. I have a deer problem -- they're constantly eating my bushes and plants. I've just been letting it happen for years, but one of my bushes is now on the verge of death, so I needed to take action.First I tried some of those little smelly pouches that you hang on the bushes. Within 48 hours, I caught the deer munching away about 6in from the pouch, so... that was a fail.Next up I decided to try this. At first I was leery of trying something battery powered. I'm still on the fence about this, but it does have a solar sensor on the top that is supposed to keep the batteries charged. So far so good, although time will tell how well this continues to work.I'm still working to adjust the sensitivity, but thus far this seems to kick off reliably and I haven't seen any deer go near my bushes. It seems to be working great. The high-pitched sound that it produces can be heard by me, and it is quite grating. While I was setting it up, it actually gave me a headache. I can see why the deer avoid this thing. Take note of this, too. When you're setting this up, wear ear protection. It's loud. Very loud.From a practicality perspective, it does kind of suck that there's no way it can differentiate between humans and deer. I can't fault the device for this. But unfortunately for me, the area I'm trying to protect is also in front of my door, so everyone coming into or out of the house has to hear it too. It is what it is.Longevity remains to be seen. It has rained several times now and it's still operating, so that's a good sign. Still not sure about the battery situation, but it did come with a very very short USB-to-barrel plug you can use if you want to attempt to hardwire it. I suppose this would have the additional benefit of allowing you to put it on a smart switch if there are times of day or night that you don't want to use it, assuming you remove the rechargeable batteries.Anyway, so far so good, I would recommend this unit, it seems to be doing the trick. I will update if I find otherwise in the near future.

Pest in my garden are a perennial problem that I have tried any number of methods to mitigate. Some of them work better, some of them work, well, not at all. When I saw this item pop up in my queue, I thought it would be worth giving a try. I like the idea of a solution that is mostly hands off that will train the animals to avoid those spaces. This is virtually painless for the animals which is a real bonus to me.In the past years I have tried everything from sprays to electric fences (and more) to keep the deer, raccoons, polar bears, and whatever the heck else crawls around in the dead of night, from coming after my beloved tomatoes. The reality is you have to train critters to stay away if you want to have any success. I prefer a multi-layered approach and I think this can help, but if you are expecting this to work all by itself, I think there will be some disappointment involved.What I liked: There are adjustments on this for frequency and sensitivity. The manufacturer has some suggestions for the sounds to use for various animals. Frankly, I don't know how useful that is, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I can say that the higher frequencies certainly get my dog's attention - and are unlikely to wake me up at night. Having both sound and light should be a good combination. (Although, to be honest I don't know how the heck this is could possibly work for moles!)What I don't like: There is no provision that I can see for disabling this during the day. The reality is that all of the pests that I want kept out come around at night - usually in the early morning hours. (My dogs scare off anything during the day, including delivery drivers, but sleep inside at night.) It seems like a waste of energy for this to be used during the day and I would prefer to save that with a day/night option.I can't say that the case seems to be particularly robust, but I am not sure how much of that is necessary. As long as it keeps the water out, and the solar panel works, I guess it doesn't matter. Most plastics don't fare well in sunlight but, again, we'll see.As far as value for the money goes, that's a personal determination. If this device helps keep the critters off the plants, it'd be worth every dollar. However, I am reviewing this during the off season, so there's not going to be a whole lot of opportunities for me to truly test how well it works. (FWIW, My kids don't like it either...) If I have anything else to add to this after the next growing season, I will be sure to pop back in here to keep all my Amazon peeps up to date!Happy growing!
