I got this because I kept hearing it was just "Vaseline."Well, it's not. It works as good as anything else on the market at a fraction of the cost.Yes, it is thick and it does NOT come with a plunger for some reason.I cut off a dowel rod to use as a plunger and it works great.Get some and use it. It works great!

It becomes gummy, sticky and very hard to clean and stops working after a short period, I will most likely be returning if the Amtech Brand doesn't have this issue. If it lasted longer before it got sticky , the small part sticks to the tweezers right when you dont want it to become sticky, its also gets sticky even when hot. Not recommended for small parts or around small components. Medical plunger works well if you dont have a dispenser. PICTURES: sticking to tweezers , (tube is full,Medical plunger), old memory card used as test shows it can cause a bond yet leaves a sticky mess. Finally I think there's just not enough active ingredient for it to last long enough.

So right off the bat you'll notice that there are a few unfavorable reviews for this set and just like another reviewer I'm here to tell you that they're not only wrong they're from people who probably don't even know what they're doing. No offense is meant to them, but there's some lady who gave it a 1 star because the packaging says it may contain lead! If you have an actual need for 559 flux and you're using this at all for its intended purpose then you're probably using leaded solder to remove SMD components or doing repairs on boards that contain plenty of lead.Someone complained about it being very thick, which, yeah. It's supposed to be. That's what 559 flux is. It's supposed to be pretty viscous.Someone said their solder wouldn't flow unless they dipped their tip in resin, which. If that's happening your tip is either covered in oxidized solder and needs to be cleaned or that tip has long since been destroyed. If you're having trouble transferring heat to that extent, no flux can help you.The most common complaint is that no plunger is included. The expectation is that someone purchasing flux in bulk like this, especially a very viscous flux, is going to be using the syringes with a dispenser (and also with hot air most likely). While yes, it does not come with a plunger, that's not really the intended way of using these. Even in the absolute worst case scenario if you're doing any kind of SMD work on a regular enough basis to need flux in bulk then you ought to have a least one plunger laying around from singles of solder paste or the common sense to use anything that fits inside a 1/2" hole. All of that aside, I got them. They were all filled up pretty high so the one person who had tubes that came half empty or more may have gotten a reshipped return from Amazon. Always contact sellers about this kind of thing if it happens. As soon as I got them I used the flux to remove a TSOP 48 Flash chip from a board with absolutely no issue. I used it to solder a new FPC connector on a board with absolutely no issue. Cleans up easily enough with a bit of IPA.In short, if you're worried about the performance of the flux when used properly: It works the way it's supposed to. I have not noticed anything unusual about its performance and I don't have anything remarkable to say about it.

Does not come with a plunger. Therefore I cannot use this. It would have been helpful to provide compatible plunger information and make it clear that a plunger is required.

Not as much as it says. Measuring one of the tubes that was the fullest had 6 ml(maybe 7) in it. Others are going to be about 4.I have never used this type of flux before but I was soldering all new & clean parts. The solder just wouldn't flow unless I dipped my tip in resin before soldering. It put me in the mind of Vaseline. I had a mess at the end of my project. It might be ok for the little one spot job but I don't think it is very good if you have more then that to do. Cleaning up was a mess.

Ok so i should have read a little please note THIS ITEM DOESN'T CONTAIN A PLUNGER! unless you have a compatible plunger attachment there isn't an easy to get it out of the tube. I used the end of a socket wrench to get enough out to test it. It works great otherwise but the lack of a supplied plunger or easily noticed indication you need one and where to get one. The product itself is quite good but this minor oversight has caused me some inconvenience. One should have been supplied even if it won't last long so you can at least get some work done while you find and order a quality one... so yeah make sure you find a plunger for this product.
