Your cart is empty.The Speedball Mona Lisa Gold Simple Leaf and is a new innovation in composition leaf and a high-quality alternative to pure gold leaf. The composition leaf is bonded with wax paper and when applied to an area with adhesive, only the leaf touching the adhesive pulls free of the wax paper. Excess leaf remains attached to the wax paper to be used again. This feature greatly reduces waste commonly associated with the leafing process. This product is thinner than the OLD WORLD brand imitation gold. When applied on flat surface, it is still prone to breakage. The color is not much different and the price is higher. I am going back to the other brand.

Dice que es Simple pero no es cierto, sale pero. No se despega de la hoja en la que viene, mejor aprendan a usar la hoja normal. Además no da el mismo brillo. Este es un poco mate y rugoso incluso se nota desde antes de instalar.

I love Simple Leaf's ease of use, and for most of my pieces, the effect is equal to actual gold leaf.

Unfortunately I wasn't happy at all with the product, I use leaf quite often and found that the backing, which is very stiff, was stronger than the surface adhesive (Mona Lisa) and made it nearly impossible to cover the surfaces I was working on (often curved) this resulted in too much waste,

Ordered gold and silver of this leaf...just used the silver to restore a 50th Anniversary picture frame for my mother...made the frame look brand new! Love it!

The product itself works way better for applying than the standard metal leaf by the same company. The simplified adhesion makes for a much more professional appearance on your creation. However, I've been finding that about 20% of the sheets in each package are not in good enough condition to use for something like a flat surface. Several sheets are have bends or crimps in them, or tiny pinholes and other imperfections. I'm not sure if this is happening in production, shipping or handling, but had local stores carried this product, perhaps I could have hand-picked the flawless packages instead of taking a loss.

I've never worked with gold leaf before but had seen a video on how to use this one that comes on a transfer paper - I could see how much more difficult handling gold leaf would be without the transfer paper. I managed to get a large antique mirror frame covered - but I probably could have used some proper lessons prior to starting - amazing quality and luster. If it is your first time working with gold leaf - you might want to start off with a small project with little to no decorative molding - I had a lot of decorative molding - which caused me to probably use far more gold leaf than would have been necessary if I had been more proficient - that is not the products fault, but my own. Too - this company's adhesive - a little goes a long way - I managed to cover my large mirror quite a few times - but the sealer - I could have used a much larger bottle of. Both the adhesive and sealer are great products as well as the gold leaf.
