Having used the Speedokote products on many guitar paint jobs I was a big supporter until I tried the Tri Gloss clear coat. The first couple jobs turned out decent as I followed the manufacturer directions. However if the products get a year old there is something wrong and white particles will evaporate up through the clear and cause serious defects to the job. My thoughts were that it must be defective so I called the company and it was difficult to get a call back so I emailed. Finally got a tech and they said it must be the activator because it only has a 60 day shelf life. This doesn’t make sense to me due to the white crystals forming at the surface while curing. I really didn’t get very good customer support and I don’t feel as though I got any solution so I pretty much wasted my money on a gallon of the tri gloss and the products that go with it. Another issue is the limited product description on their website. No where did I find a shelf life on any of their descriptions or labels. Other clears I’ve used have a 2 year shelf life so I believe the tri gloss is not a good idea.

I had a nice dark blue color going. I opened up the clear coat can and it had a very yellow tint in it. I thought "oh it will go clear once it dries". Nope. I got turquoise now instead of blue

I did not utilize this on a vehicle but my home doors. It allowed me to put the perfect sheen and protection for my Steal entrance doors. Awsom!

This stuff is very good. Easy to spray; excellent adherence to surface, and it forms a hard, scratch resistant clear coat after curing. Spraying is recommended. Spray it in two coats with 20 minutes in between, and let it dry for a few hours. then, cure it at about 200F for an hour after which it has reached maximum hardness. If the item is too large for an oven, just wait for 24 hours and you are good do go. The flatness of the coat can be "modulated" by changing the mix ratio, from semi-gloss to flat (I did semi-gloss). In general, nothing can beat two-part paints. They do not dry by evaporating (which always takes forever to reach maximum hardness), they cure through a chemical reaction. The final result is an absolutely superb, extremely durable coating.
