What a great (updated) axle seat. The body will protrude into the axle tube 2-3mm deeper than National/Spicer/duralast units (look at the picture and you’ll see how tall/deep the body is). B/c this is an updated spicer seal, it’s thicker and more of a flatter build and seal moves no more than 2mm. While the National/spicer/duralast seal moves in and out about 2-3+mm (look at gap). Here’s a fun fact. Duralast seals are built with a better rolled lip (the side you’ll be banging to install the seal). Perhaps opinion based but a lip that’s at a 90 degree (duralast) vs a lip that’s 45 degree will tend to be sturdier and more forgiving when you bang on it.Though I prefer more movement of the seal, we’ll see how these do within 200k miles. I’m positively sure it will be fine. Look at the photo and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I like Timken and National but in this case ONLY BUY SPICER. The design is completely different. They are rugged and install with ease. The Timken/Nationals are flimsy and near impossible to install. I struggled with them for hours. The Spicers went on in 10 min. Sooooo glad I ordered these!!! Were perfect for my Dana 50 in the front of my 2000 Excursion. USe a little bit of RTV sealant when you put them in. Don't use the stupid press!! Just beat them out with a pipe or some 1/2" extensions, install the same way.

Note: Seals are to be installed with metal lip facing towards tires. Rubber side with goes towards ring and pinion. Use a couple seal drivers from a kit and a piece of 1/2 threaded rod to pull seals in.
