I love the design of this stand, and I own two currently. It's relatively compact and feels like it has some weight and quality to it-- an attribute I want when standing up my precious instruments. I don't trust it as much for larger instruments like a full sized bass guitar. It's a narrow stand and has some grip to hold your instrument taught, but it can easily be bumped and fall over if you're not careful. That's why I stick to smaller instruments and for that purpose, it's working awesome. Recommended with those caveats above.

As other reviewers have said, an excellent footstand, works great, easy to put together, adjustable height just works well. As for a guitar stand, eh, not the best at least for carpet. I don't think I'll use it as a guitar stand but I like that it is a two and one. Great for travel then you have both a footstand and a guitar stand, switches between the two fairly easily. Well made.

Better than leaning the guitar against the couch for sure. It is a little wobbly on carpet, so would do better in a corner on hardwood floor or on a piece of wood, but it feels more secure than just leaning the guitar against something. The item itself is nicely made and well thought out. Love that it folds and goes flat for portability. What sold me on trying it was the video on Amazon that shows you can also use it for a phone or tablet stand. That works well too.Handy to have an adjustable footstool for playing guitar so one doesn't have to cross the legs too to hae the guitar in the proper position. Have to say, for my brain it is still a slow process to get it in any right position except the easiest, which is footstool, but I'm getting better and faster at it... good brain teaser for me.

The convertible nature is very cool, and the work put into making it work well as a guitar stand is impressive and legitimately functional. I won't be using that mode often. I have two acoustic basses, which are chonky like dreadnought guitars, but I rarely play them. For those who will use if more for the guitar stand mode, it does equally well there. No issues with acoustic guitars, obviously. I tried it with my Washburn Status bass, which is fairly large for a headless. Not at all the sort of guitar this was made for, but as you can see it works well anyhow. The cork pads are plenty grippy enough to prevent sliding and the rear support is tall enough for headless guitar or bass. If you look closely at the photos you'll see that the places with the cork pads are angled so that the guitar rests on a flat surface rather than corners. In footrest mode it has already replaced my other two footrests. It's not obvious in the side views, but it is very wide - around 2 inches wider than the standard metal ones. If your foot tends to wander you'll feel the edge of the platen before the thing tips over.Being larger overall also means that it can be adjusted taller than most. In the first photo where I'm standing on it (do not try this at home) the standard steel one (which is pretty good, but...) is to the right and one I built with a wider frame and platen, is on the left. Now that I've been using the SPIKE one the one I made has been demoted to spare/support stand for a reverb unit, and the metal one is just a backup to the spare. Sort of a second runner-up.It came with a tiny ziplock bag with a hex wrench for the pivot bolt and two pieces of replacement cork. The wrench makes sense (I needed it because one pivot loosened during shipping, but the cork is confusing since there are no cork pads of that size on this footrest. Oh well, it's still a nice touch.Another cool, but unusual feature is the heavyweight canvas drawstring bag with the (subjectively) rad company logo.

My father was a shop teacher. He was great at woodwork. I still have and use furniture he made, even when I was a toddler. When I opened up the Spike footrest the first thing I thought was, "Wow, my father would have approved of this!" Not only is it beautiful, but it is also beautifully made. Flawless. And well designed. It comes with a real nice, heavy fabric storage bag, and a wrench to adjust tightness, and extra cork.My only suggestion is that there should be some kind of rubber treads on each of the four corners to keep it from sliding.Bottom line: Beautiful, well made, useful. What more could you want?
