For the cable length cut 1.5”inch shorter then the space of the 2 post. Use the drill to screw the anchors, way faster!

The package comes with right hand and left hand threaded lag connectors. The purpose is in each section you install the right lag on the right and the left on the left. Simple right, why so you don’t twist your cable. Crimp each end and the rotate the right and left the same amount of turns as to keep the cable from twisting. The Steel DN Mate product is one of the best on the market for these applications. They are well made stainless steel materials that hold up great in the harshest environments.

If you are installing a cable railing, these are a fairly easy way to go. The lags screw into the railing posts, the cable you use is inserted in each lag and crimped. This is a tedious task, but worthwhile when complete. There is a method to using these lags:1. Predrill the holes2. Start the lags in the posts3. Measure the necessary cable length and cut4. Crimp the cable into the lags5. Tighten each end evenlyThe included directions are pretty clear. YMMV.Bear in mind, there are 2 sets of screws (left and right). The reason for this is both ends tighten the same way to prevent the cable from twisting as you tighten the lags. The lags made it through a New England winter without and signs of rust or oxidation. I am impressed on how well they have held up.The only negative is the wrench to tighten the lags can get "tired" after use. Essentially the wrench end expands over time making it hard to use. These lags are a cost effective way to get a cable railing system attached to your posts.

These lags were great for my deck project. Affordable, solid construction, and easy to use. Using the drill bit provided made the perfect size hole so the lags were easy to screw in but had plenty of bite in the wood posts. And they fit the cable perfect and are easy to crimp, and secure. I was able to "tune" them like a guitar to get all the cables at the same tension. This made it easy for both horizonal and angled cable ends. SteelDNmate also had exceptional customer service on a different product from them I purchased for the same project. They were super fast to respond, very understanding to my situation, and provided a very quick resolution. That level of care seems rare on the internet. Really outstanding company!! I'm very happy with my purchases from them and am stoked on how my deck looks!

I own a cabin high in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. I wanted to be able to see the landscape when sitting in my chair relaxing and also be able to lean on my railing. I just finished adding new decks front and rear. I decided to use pine logs right off my property to keep the cabin feel. I've seen many decks using different methods of securing the stainless wire. I did have some apprehension regarding how well these swages would hold. My worry was quickly washed away. The swages hold very well and I had no issues. The wire fits right inside and they become almost invisible. I'm very happy with the finished product. Be aware that you need two tools for tightening the swages, one person at each end. I used a small crescent wrench, but received another tool with my second order. Below is a list of items I purchased from Amazon for this job. I'll be reviewing each over the next day or so and include some tips I learned while doing this job.Steel DN Mate 120 Pack T316 Stainless Steel Left & Right Handed Thread Swage Lag Screwshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M2V2VX3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsCKE 120 Pack T316 Stainless Steel Protector Sleeveshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BF4C9K9H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1Aluminum Spacer 1/2" OD x 1/4" ID x Choose Your Lengthhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0842FD5YK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1Steel DN Mate Hydraulic Crimping Toolhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BQVKM2Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsMarine Grade 1/8 Stainless Steel Cable with Cutter7x7https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1CZHDYW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Works great. Taks about 10mins per wire once you get how it's done. Drill holes in the wood piece, cut wire with buffer as described in the kit, cramp the wire with a hydraulic crimper then screw with the special tool included. Easy to do and way faster if there is 2 of you.

I loved how this turned out. The ends were good, but the tool and drill bit that came with them were throw away quality. We used 48 ends in our project. We used top and bottom rails to keep the posts square. Also it was easy to over crimp these and they would bend, so they weren't installed straight. The tool to tighten these ended up bent and unusable before we had all of the ends in place. I think we were barely at the halfway point when we needed to straighten the tool back into shape to continue, and we didn't us it on all even before the tool stopped working. We had an adjustable wrench that kind of worked. The drill bit that came with it ended up dull by the time we were done drilling all the holes.
