It broke after a couple of uses. This welder is too low of a quality to be useful but for the most emergency of uses. You get what you pay for but in this case I don't think you get enough and you would be better off spending your money on a welder that will last more than a couple of times before burning out.

Great little welder for hobby enthusiast, I don't think it is quite up to the task of daily professional use.Surface prep is majorly important for you to get good results with this welder. It is easy to use, store and carry.I used it to go to a friend's house and do a little repair on his cast iron rail and it worked great. just needed a little paint to hide the weld.

This is a great beginner's item that you can use for light work or to teach yourself how to weld. I'm pleased with it for that. The price is excellent.

Let me get the 'cons' out of the way first: 6' electrode lead, 4' working clamp lead: Way too short. The connectors don't 'click' into the welder- they turn to a stop, but don't feel securely fastened. The AC cord is 4'. Working on a welding table in the middle of the shop floor, are you supposed to power a 250 Amp, 120 VAC welder on an extension cord? Non-optimal. Crummy pamphlet masquerading as an operator's manual, which does not address the product description claim of 'Hot start, Arc force, and anti-stick' - are we to believe these are automatic? I sincerely doubt that they exist. Then: The front panel settings do not match actual power output (see pics). Actual output did not attain 250A, by a wide margin. For the techies: my test rig was a DC clamp ammeter on the negative work clamp, which reads 1 mv per amp at the 400A setting. It fed a Fluke 111 DVM, which was set to DC mV; and the Min/Max selection set to Max. I struck an arc and burned rod for several seconds to record max delivered amps. The pix are pretty self-explanatory, the tests are with 3/32 j422 rod, the '251' setting is a 1/8' 7018 rod. Perhaps the larger rod could carry more current. The plastic case gives me the heebie-jeebies...can this last in even a hobbiest shop? The product description calls this a "Full wrap-around heat sink"..it's vented plastic, fer cryin' out loud!Pros: It burned a 1/8" 7018 stick, and even with such a notorious hard-starter, did ok on the higher amperage settings. It comes with a nice heavy pair of leather welding gloves. Includes 10 J422 3/32" welding rod. And a crummy little 'chipping hammer' brush. The control is idiot-proof; amperage up and down, period. There are, in the same price range, welders that have actual settings for their features- hot start, etc, with longer leads. Be sure to shop and compare.

I got it, it worked fantastically for a few days then it stopped producing enough power to get a full weld. Just spaced out little dots. Not too sure if it’s the machine or me, I tried with multiple metals and rods as well.
