First and foremost, this item isn't actually designed for fishing rods. It's an American made product originally designed for skateboard or snowboard storage. However, as anyone who can see the photos will work out, it can be used for the 'racking of any flat or pole shaped items. The two main parts are made of plastic. They have strength vertically although quite weak with any twisting/sideways force. I can imagine some people may experience breakages either during installation or whilst walking by if not too careful.Installation is really easy, in my case just screwed into the side of a wood build barn. One big criticism is that there are four mounting slots on each half, so why do the only provide 4 button-headed screws instead of 8!?!? We're talking a few cents/pennies.Now with respect specifically to the storage of fishing rods, the spacing between each if the three levels may means the fishing reels collide with each other. You get round this by alternately 'top-and-tailing' the rods to face different directions. Also, as the rack arms have a slope back to the wall, anything pole-like (such as a fishing rod or a landing net pole) will want to slide back toward the wall. The means the reels will touch the wall. I got around this by adding blobs of Sugru half way up the rack arms, keeping the fishing rods around 4 inches away from the wall.Wish there was a 4 or 5 arm version as will inevitably have to buy more for what I want to hang.Final summary comment, this is a great product but realistically isn't worth £30. I really do feel this product should sell for around £15-£20 based on what you get and the materials. Not that I'm into skateboarding but that also backed up by what you can buy for £30-£40 when you search for skateboard storage.

Affordable and sturdy product for holding a number of fly rods in our garage. Will switch out to Snowboards when the snow falls and will see how they hold them, but don't see any issues.
