I'm a big fan of Strathmore mixed media paper so I wanted to give these cards a try. It feels like the same smooth medium weight surface and I tested out some light watercolor washes and marker accents. I figure these stand up to the test! I suggest using their actual Watercolor cards instead of these if you plan on going with heavy washes (a lot of water) because mixed media paper isn't built for that. Otherwise, I say go for it! PS - I like the subtle touch of the deckled edge for the envelopes... just a smidge nicer than standard envelopes.

The quality of these cards is decent, and is actually better than the 400 series that I also got. But these are still not as thick as I expected, especially for mixed media. They are also really small. I think they’re too expensive for such a small pack.

These cards are a perfect example of why Strathmore sets the standard in stationery. The quality is top notch, the cut is perfect, and the surface is perfect for many different mediums. Don't be fooled, as I was, though. I thought I was getting a nice set of notecards with lovely succulents or other plants painted on them. Wrong. These cards are totally blank, inside and out, ready for you to express your own creativity and thoughts.

For my test card I used; Watercolor, paint pens, three lining markers (One Micron, two unnamed similar ones.) a white gel pen (Gelly Roll), and a little bit of colored pencil (Sparingly, no name brand.).Overall, I really like these mixed media cards. My test held up to everything I put it through no problem. Notably, the surface is quite smooth and the artist’s tape I used on the card did NOT pull any of the paper up, while that has happened quite a bit on other papers with the same tape. There is a little bit of warping, but I notice that most premade cards I try to use will warp at least a little bit. I find pressing them once everything is completely dry helps re flatten them before sending. I would advise being a little sparing about how much liquid (Glue, watercolor, other paint, etc.) is on the cards at once though, as too much can cause the warping to get worse. As this has happened with every premade card I’ve ever tried, I did not deduct a star for this.I did use a sheet of plastic between the front and rear just in case of bleedthrough, but I did not have any to worry about. I’d still recommend it, but more of a precaution than a necessity. With the pencil and pens, I used a very gentle hand because I had a feeling those would leave indents in the paper that would show through the other side. Because I was gentle, I did not have a problem, but had I not thought ahead I would have had those indents, and possibly torn the paper up. Again, this is common unless the paper is extremely thick, so I didn’t remove any stars for this. So, I would recommend these premade cards to someone looking for a standard, mixed media type of card to make something with. If you want watercolor or a lot of glue, I may say look more at specifically watercolor cards, but if you’re not sure what exactly you want on them, then these are a good blank card for you.

This is exactly as advertised, six pre-folded cards with matching envelopes. The cards are thick and sturdy. If you use heavy inks, markers, etc. on them, you may be able to see a bit through the card. I've not had any issues with bleeding through though. I appreciate that the cards are prefolded so I know it'll be a straight, crisp line as compared to if I did it. I got these for my kids to make cards for relatives that live far away and they've really enjoyed that but they are a good enough quality to really make artful, sophisticated cards too.

I purchased these cards with the intention of using gel pens on them, and these cards are no different than ordinary blank notecards I already have plenty of. Mixed media cards should be able to handle marker, gel, paint, etc, and these miss the mark.
