Having watched numerous Dave's World of Fun Stuff videos, I felt it was time I started measuring my string and pick up height a little more routinely. This tool absolutely does the job - it has all the measurements you need and the 64ths are clearly marked and easy to see and read. Recommended!

These things can be crazy expensive and this does the job. Thick enough so it's not bendable. Kind of hard to read on string action--it is incremented in 0.5 mm and there are labels at 4, 8, etc., but these refer to half millimeter increments, so 4 = 2 mm so it's 4 HALF-mm increments, you have to divide everything in half to get your measurement. Kind of weird. The other side has mm marked off in 5s; 5 = .5 cm, 10 = 1 cm. I find this makes more sense.Could be used as a fret rocker -- the long side will cover three frets near the nut and the short side will cover three near the heel. There's an action guide for the 12th fret on one side for electric/acoustic/bass. Handy to have right on the rule. I used clear tape to cover my preferred specs. It comes in a handy slide-in card, I store in there.

When I purchase something like this, I'm looking for a product that will do what I need it to do and at a fair cost. The packaging was first rate. Once you get the protective film off, you're ready to go. I did a full setup on my Strat and this gauge/ruler gave me many uses. I pulled up the manual and decided to put the guitar back to factory specs. There are plenty of graduations in Metric and inches. You can measure in several axis's with ease. String height is very easy to measure now with this ruler. Setting pickup height is a breeze with this ruler as it sticks to the highest pole pieces. I've also used it as a fret rocker and it worked quite well. The graphics are nice and clean. On one side, they provide a string action table with standards for acoustic, electric and bass. Very Handy!I do have feeler gauges to check neck relief however, the Baroque has a .010" graduation that you could use to measure string height at the 8th fret. Overall, this is an outstanding gauge/ruler for a very reasonable price.

This product is so sweet. I've been taking my PRS SE to multiple guitar sotres in the area and nobody knows how to set one up properly. I got this last night and went to the PRS website and set up my guitar according to their recommendations using this tool and the guitar has never sounded or played so good. Pickup height, neck adjustment, bridge saddles were all off. Its like a whole new guitar now and this was so easy to use.

What a handy tool to have! If you own a guitar and like to do your own setups, this is a great item. It provides measurements in MM, 100th's and 64th's. It is great for measuring action (fret clearance) as well as setting pickup height. On the back there is a chart listing the "normal" ranges of 12th fret string height (for acoustic, electric, and bass), which is a handy reference if you're not a seasoned luthier. This helps you dial in a good "starting point", but also helps you recognize if you have some neck relief or fret issues if you have to go above a certain height to avoid buzzing. What it cannot do: 1. Fret leveling (there are special tools for this), although you can the edge as a "rocker" to find high frets. 2. Measure neck relief (you need a proper feeler gauge for this). It's durable (not flimsy), and the etchings seem like they will last. I was using a standard 6" machinist's scale, but this is so much easier to work with. I'd buy another one if I lost this.
