space is a premium in my small home. i have floor stands for my and my wife's guitars, but they do this thing where they take up floor space. a lot of floor space. so we decided it was high time to hang those axes on the wall where they will be safer from being knocked over or kicked or otherwise damaged. these string swings were the perfect solution!unit constructionthe wall plate and bolt-mounted hanger are made of very durable-feeling metal. there's an outer jacket around the bolt to clean up the appearance, and it actually snugs up all the pieces when completely assembled, with the aid of an attached rubber washer. when assembled (which took all of 60 seconds) the unit looks very slick and presentable. i did not use the drywall anchors included with the kit, but instead drove the included screws directly into studs. i could hang 50lbs from this thing if i wanted!the hanger itselfthe hanger acts like a cradle for the headstock. depending on how tightly you screw it into the wall plate, it can swivel to accommodate asymmetrical headstocks as well. the rubber sleeve covering the bracket is firm but supple, and has a good grip. the rubber washers were not all that tough to put on and do a good job of securing the guitar within the hanger, but i found they are not necessary unless you're afraid you might bump the guitar a lot while it's hanging there.overallthese little hangers are great. the guitar body hangs about an inch from the wall and does not come close to touching the wall anywhere when resting still in the hanger. they provide a safe display and storage option for your guitar in a way that no floor stand can equal. i highly recommend buying one or two of these if you want to free up some space in your music room, or even if you just want to fill your wall with functional art.

I used these hangers to get my guitar collection off floor stands and onto the wall. This looks even better than I expected - now I can really see and appreciate the guitars. The hangers themselves are well-made and easy to install, once you figure out placement*. I didn't even need a drill. I just started each screw (provided) with a hammer, and screwed it in the wall. If I hit a stud, I was done. If no stud, I backed the screw out and screwed in a wallboard anchor (provided), then screwed the screw back in the wall. I found the hangers plenty secure with the provided anchors, and didn't feel the need to mount the hangers on separate boards anchored to studs as other reviewers have done. Not using separate boards not only simplified installation, it also gives a cleaner look in my opinion. The hangers themselves look and feel high-quality. The hooks can be widened or narrowed, but I found them fine as-is. The hooks can be rotated, which accommodates different headstock shapes and makes it easier to make the guitars straight vertical.*As for placement, I made two rows of hangers, one 20.5" higher than the other. This allowed me to stagger the upper and lower rows so that headstocks of the lower guitars are about level with the shoulders or horns of the upper guitars, and the necks of the lower guitars are centered between the widest parts of the upper guitar bodies. This made a display of 9 guitars in about 91" of wall space. Even though the guitars are varied - acoustic and electric, 36" - 44" in length - the display looks good. I spaced the upper hangers horizontally so that there is a minimum of about 4" between the widest parts of each pair of guitars. This required deciding in advance the arrangement of the guitars, and customizing the horizontal spacing for each guitar because they are so different. I horizontally spaced the lower row so the necks of the lower guitars are centered between the upper guitars.

After reading the reviews, I finally purchased three of the metel guitar hangers. They are awesome. I have 1 acoustic, 1 bass, and 1 electric hanging from my wall now. The mount is easy to hang, strong, stable, and great for all types of guitars. It is able to shift to adjust for different size and styles of necks. My full size acoustic guitar is held about 1/2 an inch away from the wall, protecting it from scratches.Great Product!Update: We now own 7 of these and they are all still preforming great! I have many different instruments hanging and the finishes are all perfect. The metal plate fits flush against the wall and looks very professional. The rubber washers have kept the guitars from falling off when my son tried to pull one down and lost his balance. The hanger is strong enough to withstand constant removal and replacement of the guitars without showing any wear or tear. I love them!
