About Swagman

"Ride, paddle, explore:
seek your adventure"

That philosophy was the intention of founders Jim and Jan Morris who saw an opportunity to create a better way to transport your bike back in the early 90’s. Swagman was one of the first companies worldwide to design and market a hitch style bike rack. Over the years, that small bike rack company based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia grew to include numerous other ground breaking designs in the North American Bicycle, RV and Automobile markets.

This rack is priced right, easy to install and remove and very supportive of my bike. I had a small problem and the seller sent me a free replacement piece immediately. Very VERY pleased!

I bought this 3 months ago to replace a Yakima hanging type rack. We used it for a 1000 mile trip before reviewing and found it to be an excellent rack. Our 2 bikes made it perfectly. I like it MUCH better than the hanging type. The design and construction are outstanding. While the materials on the Yakima are obviously higher quality, these are perfectly adequate and functional and for the price difference it's an easy choice for me. Unless you need this right away, watch for deals. The price fluctuates between $65-$120. The rack fits my 2" receiver tightly with no wobbling or sway when the included pin is screwed tightly into place. The pin has a nib on the end to fit the optional lock. The rack's hitch-mount comes with an already attached adaptor that may be removed to use in a 1 1/4" receiver as well. Remember, bikes with a suspension can compress on bumps and bounce out of any tray type rack. You should attach the wheels to the trays with straps (buckle or velcro) or just use a bungee. I also wrapped a bungee around the frame tubes at the top hooks. Super secure and you can use foam pipe insulation if needed to protect the finish. This is a great rack and at the price it's a SUPER deal.UPDATE: We just got back from another road trip and I'm even more impressed with this rack than I already was. I now have a total of over 1500 miles on it, mostly highway with some around town use and even a little off road. This rack is an amazing bargain! I don't see ever needing anything more expensive than this. The quality is excellent and it works like a charm. Very secure and easy on and off.

I use this on my F150 to move my race bikes around. Came well packed, simple to assemble, then slots in smoothly into my tow hitch. Highly recommend.

I ordered this bike rack with a threaded hitch pin of the same brand because it is lockable and it works perfectly fine. I test drove in the highway, I drove 60 kmph, 80 kmph up to 110 kmph and it felt like I dont carry any bike at all. No shaking or rattling and well secured. Both the hitch pin and bike rack were delivered 2 days early than a target date. Assembly is very easy, I did not even read the instruction, I just followed the illustration. I did install 1 bike hook and a set of wheel slot because I have only 1 bike for my kid. It is good that I can open my truck bed without folding down the bike rack ( as shown in the picture, I have to unload the bike though which is not a big deal ). Please note that my truck is a mid size truck so for a full size truck you might have to fold down the bike rack to have access to your bed.

:o he usado varias veces and nos ha servido bien.

I'm reasonably happy with this hitch mount rack. I have a Mazda Miata and wanted a way to carry my bike to work with me on nice days so I didn't have to choose between going for a lunch ride and driving the convertible. Yeah, first world problems... Anyway, I put a hitch on the Miata and got this rack.THE GOOD: The hitch holds the bikes well. It handles my road bike and my 29'er. It is super quick to install and remove (with some caveats noted below)THE BAD: Wobbles if you don't bolt everything downNow, about that wobble. I don't want to leave the rack on the Miata. I bring my bike inside when I get to work and throw the rack in the trunk for the rest of the week. The bolt-in hitch pin is not conducive to that, so I used a regular hitch pin with a cotter lock that I can remove quickly. That adds a little play at hitch attach point. Then where the rack attaches to the arm from the hitch has two bolts to secure that joint from wobbling. I can't fit the rack in the Miata trunk with that hitch arm sticking out at a right angle to the rack, so I don't use the two bolts and just have the pin securing the rack to the arm. This joint is pretty loose and results in wobble. It seems secure, just wobbly. But, I can now take the rack on or off in 30 seconds without needing any tools. I'm not sure why that joint is so loose and wasn't built with tighter tolerances. In conclusion, this is a good rack for the price.

I decided to purchase this style of bike rack after searching the internet high and low for all different types of bike racks. To be honest I couldn’t be happier with this purchase and this style of bike rack, it is easy to use, holds the bikes securely, and safely. The reason I decided to go with the Swagman brand is because it is a very good value compare to other brand bike racks on the market that offer the same thing this rack does. Don’t pay hundreds of dollars more for a product that will do the same function!Pros: The first good thing about this product that comes to mind is the construction quality of this rack. It is built strong, stable, and built to last. I was surprised when I first received this rack at the sturdiness of it. The second good thing about this rack is the ease of installing it to you vehicle, it takes maybe 5 minutes to “install” or “remove” this rack from your vehicle. Very easy and straight forward on how to do this, basically you slide the rack into your received hitch, and then you insert the threaded bolt through one side of your receiver hitch and then push it to the other side and begin threading it into the other side. I will then general take a wrench and snug up the bolt, then place the cotter pin through the end if the bolt and you are done. The third good thing about this rack is how easy it is to load and unload the bikes from it. It takes literally 1 minute to unload 2 bikes from this rack, and then you are ready to ride. No having to install your front tire, or lift the bikes up or down from the top of your car or the bed of your truck, nope your simply release the tension on the bike and then remove it from the rack.Cons: The only thing I dislike about this rack is that it has to be folded down to access my tailgate when it is installed to my truck. And with bikes on the rack you are ether out of luck or you have to removed your bikes from the rack to access the tailgate. Overall this is not a huge deal and I think the benefit the rack provides far outweighs this small issue.Overall: I have been using this bike rack for 2 or 3 years now and have not had any issues at all and have never had a bike come loose, fail off, or anything like that. I ride just about every day and the trailers I ride are about 10 miles from my house so I have to load the bike up every time I want to go ride. That being said I don’t want to have to mess with lifting the bike on top of my truck every day, and I also don’t want to have to remove the front tire every single day. That is the biggest selling point for me with this rack is that I can load my bike on it in basically seconds, put a Masterlock on it so it is safe and secure and then I’m ready to go ride!! I can promise you that you won’t be disappointed with this purchase and it is a very nicely constructed rack that functions awesomely well!!Perfect rack for people like me who ride every day and don’t want to have to take the bike apart after each ride.
