I build model cars and my wife has me on a strict budget. Who wants to spend $20 on a drill when you can buy one for $5 and have $15 to put towards a new kit? I had bought one of these a few years ago, but decided I could use another so I could keep my most used bits chucked up ready for use. I figured they were all the same so I bought a couple of cheap ones. It would have been better to blow my nose on the cash. You don't realize quality till you buy some junk. So now I have two of these Tamiya drills. Great product, and worth every penny.

Great little pin vise. I had bought a cheaper one from Hobby Lobby (right side of photo) that was less than half the price at $9 and came with 5 drill bits but it was hard to operate. The Hobby Lobby one, when twisting and holding a finger on the top end to steady it, had an awful grinding metal-against-metal sound and sometimes wouldn't even turn. I also couldn't tighten it enough for the bit not to slip when drilling. But this one (Tamiya - left side of photo) is so smooth, no metal on metal grinding. Also it (Tamiya) is much easier to switch drill bits with the rubber grip. With the cheaper one I had to get a pliers to find the 2nd collet hidden in the end. Don't waste your money on cheap ones - this is a great product.Don't know why they don't spout the plusses in their product description! I almost returned it because I didn't know it had a second collet hidden in the other end for smaller drill bits (package diagram was hidden under a big sticker that covered the information about the collets). TAMIYA - YOU CAN BETTER DESCRIBE YOUR PRODUCT!!

Great manufacturing. Fit and finish is perfect. Has additional ferrule in the handle so it will accommodate many sizes of drill bits.

Like all Tamiya products I've used, the build quality as well as its operation is excellent. I'd been using a different drill to magnetize 40k figurines, but this one is worth every penny.

If you don't know already, Tamiya is a hobby company out of Japan that makes models, and so they also offer tools to use when putting those models together. This tool is used for things like using tiny drill bits and it's a quality tool for the job.The spinner cap is solid metal and feels like it may have a ball bearing in it. Even if it doesn't, it spins very smoothly even under pressure, which is a definite plus for frustration-free use. The mid section has a rubber cylinder over it which aids in completing the task with better grip and a little more torque. It also comes with 4 sizes of collet. Taking off the bottom you'll notice that the collet is reversible, and it's not made completely apparent but the top part above the rubber also spins off revealing another reversible collet, which gives the tool a good range of sizes while still having a good grip.Very nice tool!

This works reasonably well for me. It turns smoothly. The drill bit needs to be very tight or it will slip. I think it's a good value for the money.

Very high-quality as expected from Tamiya, 4 collets for a variety of bit sizes. However you will need to purchase bits separately.

This is exactly what it says it is: a pin vise. And it's nicely made.It holds pins-like objects -- like drill bits -- securely so that you can you can poke things with them and so you can turn the pin while pushing -- to drill, for example. It holds the pins using collets, four different sizes of which are provided. With the correct collet, the vise can be made to hold pins ranging in size from nearly zero to about 3mm in diameter. The swivel at the top turns very easily while under load, making it a breeze to twist a drill bit while pushing it into a workpiece. Because the vise uses collets, it takes more time to configure it to grip different diameter pins than it would if the vise used an adjustable chuck of some sort, but the collets are lighter in weight, simpler and tend to grip the pins better than an adjustable chuck would.
