I like my new crash bar! It looks great and is functional. The provided bottom bolts fit great. They provided incorrect course thread top bolts. Simply went to Home Depot for the correct fine thread bolts. It was easy to move the horn a little down by loosening that bolt and swinging it down a tad.

Amazon stated it would fit but it did not, when tried to return I was told I can get $20 for the item but wasn’t happy with that so now I’m stuck with this part that doesn’t fit….

I was a tad nervous buying this. I mean, you look at any motorcycle shop or site online, getting one of these for $250 is a steal. However, I really did want an engine guard...crash bar...highway bar...whatever your flavor is, and $100 was within my 'give a S level'. The decent amount of less than deplorable reviews was a help. Being Amazon, the chances of getting one made from sheet metal was decent (lets face it, Amazon has a lot of junk for motorcycles on it). Time to roll the dice. What I got was a decently sized engine guard with pretty nice welds and decent thickness. In fact, riding with my brother-in-law this weekend, it was the exact same one that he has on his Fat Boy that came direct from Harley (except his is chrome). Unfortunately, I've had the need to use it several times and it has performed perfectly as expected. Yeah, the paint got scuffed and scratched...but that is why I got flat black...easier to clean up with a rattle can.Did it fit perfectly? No, but nothing that was hard to overcome. The top bolts went in fine, along with one of the bottom bolts. The other one was a tad low, and being that it certainly is beefy, I wasn't bending it into submission by hand. However, a couple of strokes on a floor jack and it went into place without a problem. No welding, cutting or significant modifications. Take your time, think before you do, and you should be fine. So, if I manage to mangle it without destroying the V Star I put it on (or decide I want chrome), would I buy it again? Absolutely! Without hesitation! Seriously, it is the exact same bar that Harley sold my Brother-in-law for a paycheck, except it is only $100.00...what is not to like. Well, my Brother-in-law is a tad pissed that he paid the Harley tax for his, but I certainly like mine.Personally, I don't care about the foot pads, but the Harley ones are loose, too...so, go figure. Get some glue if you don't like it (personally, I'd use Vulkem 116, but that's me). Finally, it was shipped with a significant mummy wrap of Styrofoam and tape that was a pain to remove, but got to me without any scratches or scars.July, 2024 Update"...if I manage to mangle it without destroying the V Star I put it on..." (sigh, groan)Yep, I bent it. Slipped off pavement to a drop-off doing 5 to 10 MPH. Bent it back to the point that shifting the gears wasn't going to happen with boots on. Might be able to do it in bare feet, but lets not go there and create another story. As previously stated, I ordered another one, as the pipe got kinked in the bending and surely has lost its strength. Just paying my stupid tax. Just $20 less than last time, the gods are ruling in my favor...or something like that.I still still say that it is worth it. It not bending would be ever so nice, but probably unrealistic at 5 to 10 MPH. It did its job and is now ready for retirement.I expect the same issues with installation, which I can more than live with.

Well packaged, arrived quicker than expected. I installed it in a matter of a few minutes. Took me longer to find my tools! I loosely installed the top two bolts then installed one side and used my foot to push the other into place. Tightened up the bolts and good to go. Chrome looks really good. Time will tell how it holds up.

After looking at a lot of different engine bars, I went with this one after reading the reviews. I have a 2008 Yamaha Vstar Classic, and this bar fit perfect. Everything lined up when I installed it. I only had two do two things to the bike as I installed it. There was a little metal knob that slightly protruded in between the the top two holes where the top of the bar attaches. It took me about 5 minutes to grind it off. I painted the area before I put the bar on. It might have fit without grinding it down, but I wanted it to be super flush with the frame. The other thing I had to do was move the horn because it was in the way of the top of the bar. I used the same hole for the horn bracket as before. I just turned the bracket and moved it down a little as I added a slight bend to the bracket. Everything fits and looks great. The rubber foot rest do move if you turn them with your hand, and I will probably at different foot rests and lights late. These are definitely worth the price!

Solid, heavy product. Hardest thing was install. I ended up having the best success with slightly lowering my top horn (just loosened bolt, shifted it down then tightened again). Then I bolted the guard down first on one of the foot areas. Then the top bracket, and finally the second foot area. I used the provided bolts because my stock bolts seemed a bit short. Was careful not to overtighten. Not sure these bolts are rust proof but will see with time. Happy with end result. Rubber foot pads are really just decorative. If you want foot rests, add pegs.

The previous reviews were very helpful and although the product description only shows fitment for 1997 to 2012 V-Star 650 custom, It fits my 2016 V-Star perfectly!

This will mount up perfectly to a 09 v star classic with no issues. There is no manual so as a professional auto tech, not a motorcycle tec I hope this walk through will help those considering this bar to help with a drop (i have seen a few v stars totaled from a non moving drop). My walk through through starts with both horns and all 4 bolts on the bike removed. First step is to attach, loosely let it swing, the upper bracket with the provided 10mm bolts (flush side to frame). Next the lower brackets attach on top of the footboard mounts, you may have to slightly stretch the bar they are a bit sprung but was not an issue. The lower mount I used the stock bolts since it is a bit better grade than what was provided. Next tighten everything down. The horns I attached the top horn to the recifyer mount as seen in the photo (so top horn goes to the bottom). I extended the wires between the factory harness. I did remove the rubber foot rests, they will never hold with epoxy the chrome is just to slick.

It is a quality product. Wish is was a little heavier gauge. Wife had an accident and it probably saved her ankle more severe damage.
