Not quite what I expected, but that’s on me for maybe not reading it clearly

The biggest concern I had about getting this is whether or not it would just collapse down while you were trying to lift something. I'm happy to report that it does not. The telescoping action has enough friction to keep it extended until you push it back down. I don't know how much weight the whole thing can handle, but the hook itself is quite strong. You do get some sagging in the pole when extended out several feet. That's to be expected, though. This thing would have a LOT thicker to prevent that.I think it works great, not just for reaching up high, but also reaching down behind things and reaching out horizontally. I've already used it to free some loose branches that were dangling from my tree from a recent wind storm and to retrieve a potholder and hook that had fallen behind my stove (I used the hook tip to grab the potholder then the magnetic tip to grab the hook). And I have a bird feeder on a pole in my yard that I can reach by hand, but by using this pole, I can actually grab it without even leaving my porch. That's super handy since I keep the bird seed container on the porch.

As you can tell from the title, I’m an admitted alliteration addict. Ok, enough of that!I needed a pole with a hook that would let me pick up a heavy set of wind chimes and put them on a hook that’s over 9 feet above ground. It’s in a tight spot that makes it tricky to use a ladder. I saw this pole, thought I would give it a try, and it’s perfect for the job.The pole came in a mesh bag with a drawstring, a good way to store it. The pole feels a bit light, and I was concerned that it might not be able to bear the weight of the chimes (close to 20 pounds), but it turned out that it handled them with no problem. One good thing about the pole is how adjustable the length is. You can see from the attached pictures that it can go from being just over a foot long to at least 9 feet long. Obviously the sections get thinner as you extend it—I wouldn’t have tried to pick up that weight with it all the way extended. However, I was able to push the thinner pieces back in among the thicker ones, and I was able to get a five foot extension that easily handled the weight. The hook was well-designed for this task. The S-curve provides a secure hold, but makes it ease to remove once I had the chimes in place.I’m quite happy with this pole, couldn’t have asked for a better solution.

This telescopic reaching tool incorporates the two features into one tool. A push/pull hook and a magnet. At first I thought the hook was just for one end and the magnet for the butt end, but I discovered that you can unscrew the hook and magnet and change ends with each. The pictures indicate what I am talking about. This tool is 10 feet long and has a great reach for lightweight objects. Remember that this is a hollow sheet metal telescoping device, and a lot of weight is going to bend or collapse it. If you try to push a heavy object with it, the shaft will just telescope into itself instead of pushing. Try to pick up something heavy with it fully extended, and you will have just ruined your reaching device. The nice thing about this tool is that you don't have to fully extend it to use it. Just extend it as far as you need. You can use it in your closet to pick up hats are scarves up on a shelf or whatever else is in there you can hook. It has a nice rubber-like non-slip handle.I like this grabber/reaching/hooking tool and will use it strictly within it's weight limitations, and expect to use it for a long time. You really need one of these!

This is a really well-made telescoping pole that has a strong magnet on one end, and a multi-curved hook attachment for the other end. I expected the pole to bend under its own weight, because it is fairly heavy, but this rod remains quite straight, even when fully extended. It may start to bend when carrying a heavy object, but it works fine for snagging lightweight or even modestly heavy items. The magnetic end is screwed into the larger & heavier base of the pole, which makes it feel a little awkward to pick up steel objects when it's REVERSED, and you're holding onto the skinny end of the pole. Just extend the pole only to the length that is required to reach whatever object you are picking up with the magnet, and it should work fine for you.The S-hook at the tip of the pole is basically formed from a long bolt, screwed into place, and made secure by tightening a locknut. It is shaped so you can either push or pull on an object from a distance. I am actually thinking about also attaching a little net under the hook to turn this into a compact fruit picker! Great for picking mangoes in Hawaii!Just check that both end attachments are secure, though, before using this product. The pieces on the rod I received were already partly unscrewed and loose when I opened my package. Not a big deal to fix; although, you might want to include a cheap wrench and stick it in the included cloth bag with your rod, just so you can tighten up the locknut if things get loose again.

I am finding I need to pull out a step stool more often than ever to reach things on a high shelf. Sometimes I am trying to pull something down and other times I am trying to put something back. At 5 Ft 3 inches it is frustrating. I have seen this kind of tool used by a friend who is a wheelchair user. It came today and I immediately had a use for it. While pulling out a scarf from my scarf box (at the top of our hall closet) three scarfs had fallen down. My husband said he would put them away but I like to be independent! I wrapped the end of one of the scarfs around one of the scarfs and was able to deposit it in the box. I did the same thing with the next two and easily put them away. Now I can also grab a scarf or gloves from any of my boxes at the top of the closet. Also the hook did no damage to the knit scarfs.I know I may not be able to grab a box of greeting card from a top shelf but a coffee cup with a handle should work.If you are vertically challenged like I am check this tool out. It comes in a mesh bag that closes with a cinch.
