Premium Tea Leaves

What is Oolong Tea?

As is the case with all true teas, oolong tea is derived from the Camellia sinensis plant. But if all of these tea varietals are made from the same plant species, then what makes them so unique? It all depends on climate and processing. Oolong tea is partially oxidized, meaning that it falls somewhere between green and black tea in terms of flavor, strength, aroma and caffeine. This partial oxidation is what gives oolongs the unique, alluring characteristics that many tea drinkers know and love.

Hand-Plucked Leaves From

Fujian Province of China

The best oolong tea is typically grown and cultivated in cool, lush climates, such as the Fujian Province of China. After hand-plucking, partial oxidation allows oolong’s flavor profile to be incredibly diverse. Oolong tea can be light-bodied and grassy like green tea or rich and nutty like black tea. Bright and citrusy oolong tea falls right in between. Whether you prefer oolong that falls closer to green tea, black tea, or right in the middle, there is an option to suit every palate.

Longing for Oolong

Oolong tea gets its alluring character through a meticulous process in which the leaves are shaken until the perfect oxidation level has been reached, as judged only by sight, aroma and touch.

I used to buy this brand of milk oolong and they discontinued it. When I saw it available again I grabbed it quick but it doesn't taste like I remember. The milk flavoring is barely there.

I love this tea but can't buy it from from my local grocery store any longer. Happy to have found it on Amazon. A little expensive but worth the extra money for a low-caffeine evening cuppa. Fruity aroma with smooth taste, not bitter like some green teas. Good unsweetened or with a touch of honey.

Strong Milk aroma, mild flavor close to green tea. Recommend brewing as green tea. Tea bags are small. Glue on label was hard to remove.

I have never tried an Oolong tea before now. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicate scent and flavor of this tea. I love creamy full flavors typically. This one is very different from what I usually drink. Truly a wonderful surprise for me. ^_^

I expect the best from Republic of Tea ("Sip by sip, not gulp by gulp") and get it. Tried this Milk Oolong based on my love of Oolong and the description. Wonderful, delicious smooth Oolong taste with delicate overtones of peaches, orchids, and lovely scent. I will order more for me and for a friend.

I had never tried milk oolong until now. The name intrigued me and I've had oolong many times. I love Republic of Tea, so after trying this one I was pleasantly surprised. This tastes wonderful! As other reviews have mentioned, there is a slight milky flavor about it. Very comforting, smooth and light. I actually make this as iced tea and love how mild it is. Give this a try if you like a light oolong. I don't think you'll be disappointed..cold or hot.

First and for most, The Republic of Tea is a top notch company. I've ordered many products from them and their packaging to the actual tea bag containers is all sustainable, excellent quality and nicely presented. You can even repurchase just the tea bags and reuse your container... sweet!!! Now to review this tea..... This Milk Oolong has origins from the Fujian Province, China. It is a green tea but processed a little differently that your traditional green teas..... It's oxidized in direct sunlight until the leaves give off a precise and pleasant fragrance - somewhere between apples, orchids, and peaches. This milk oolong is smooth and silky with a hint of "cream" tasting. It also tastes of flowers... like orchids. I drink Oolong because of its many health benefits including weight loss. There's no doubt is has a very distinct flavor and its caffeine content is midway between black tea and green tea. If you've never tasted an Oolong tea before... this is a good one to begin with. Highly recommend!
