This had potential to be beautiful, however, the laminate design on the box cover is peeling off and the box will not close all the way. It is my fault for not opening it sooner and inspecting it prior to when I wanted to give it as a gift. Had it been able to close and the top not peeling, this would be a perfect gift - as the compass is nice. I missed the window for return.

It is a very nice piece of gift. I bought this for Christmas stocking stuffer for my husband. I was suspicious but it turned out to be a wonderful gift.

This is great, if you have kids, buy this. If you have even the smallest interest in science, buy this. This is a shiny piece of history in a nice wooden box.

This piece is beautiful. The box is exquisitely made and would be worth the purchase price alone. I am looking forward to learning to use this, as it does seem to be a fully-functional historic replica. A set of instructions would have been nice, but such things are easy enough to look up on the web.
