These are thin as advertised and very nice fitting but a bit overpriced in my opinion. I would put warmth at two stars.

The socks are great but not a sock I would wear in a ski boot. As a ski boot fitter for years people would come in with sock like this and complain about pressure points. Anything you wear in an alpine ski boots should not have different thicknesses in the material. It causes pressure points that are not comfortable in something as rigid as a ski boot. Look for a sock with a heal pocket and a smooth constant thickness. I have not seen a sock like that on amazon.

Maybe it's just my legs, but they didn't come up as high as I would like. They were comfortable though.

My son was finally able to go skiing this season and came home raving about these socks. They kept his feet dry and warm, and the added cushion kept him comfortable. He said the padding across the shin is quite noticeable while skiing and he felt like it added some protection from his boots. The moisture-wicking did it's job and kept his feet from sweating, too. The socks aren't much thicker than regular socks except where the extra cushion is, so they won't affect how the ski boots fit. I love that they held no odor, held their shape after being washed, and are made in the US.

These ski socks have lots of padding in the shin and under the heel and toes. The other areas are about average thickness for ski socks. Compared to my Smartwool socks, these have at least double the padding in those areas. I favor performance over comfort so these won't work for me. The shins feel too cushy and the padding crowds my toes, and the heel isn't snugly in place. The extra padding in enough to lead to a slight loss in control esp. for more advanced skiers. These would work better for the many (most?) people who buy ski boots a size too large, which can lead to discomfort and chaffing. But the best solution would be to get thinner socks and downsize into a well fitted ski boot. If you aren't having discomfort, stick with a thinner sock. The material is a polyester/nylon blend and is no match for my wool or wool/silk blend ski socks in warmth or feel.

These socks are absolutely outstanding. They are the most highly conforming socks I own, meeting the shape of my feet almost magically. There's a little extra padding in usual spots, like the ball and heel of my feet. There's actually padding where my boot's laces are too. I've never seen that before but it is surprisingly awesome and I'll never buy socks for my boots that lack this. It's just much more comfortable, providing a lot of shock absorption for walking. I wear Corcoran boots on patrol, walking about 15-20k steps, often on concrete stairs in parking garages. I tend to lace my left boot very tight as it helps prevent my rolled ankle from getting tired. These socks really help a lot with simply helping the boot be comfortable. The synthetic material dries and also seems to shape to the foot over time. It's like wool except you can wash it without worry. These socks are precious so I just hang them to dry, but my wife will dry them all the time and even my oldest thorlos (about 20 years old) are very useable. Even though the extra padding here is designed for sky boots, these are great for applications where your boots are uncomfortable. If you are in the military, particularly infantry, please try one pair of these before your next long march. Your feet are invaluable to your effectiveness and happiness and these socks are definitely worth the extra money. In my opinion, these are thoughtfully designed and made very well. They are inherently better than any other socks I've tried. They give many of the benefits of wool, with the usability of cotton, and the moisture properties of whatever they made those socks out of. They are outstanding!

Socks are very soft and have moisture-wicking capabilities to keep feet warm and dry. Has padding in the ball and heel to absorb shock and looks ideal for skiing, cross-country and other outdoor activities. Socks have a cushioned arch and a cushioned shin for protection against shin bite plus flat-knit instep. They are comfortable, breathable and provide good ventilation. Fabric looks made to protect against blisters. Socks feel good on the feet/have good cushioning. Can be worn up over the calf or folded down, both ways are comfortable. Made in the USA. Overall, a warm breathable pair of skiing socks.

Fit is decent. It lumps up in one area, but nothing too bad.
