Happy with the quality and performance of this pump over the last 2 years. Quickly fills road and hybrid tires. A little slow for larger fat mountain bike tires, but still pleased with the pump.

So far, I've only used the pump on tires with Schrader valves, so can't comment on how it works with Presta. I bought this pump to replace a pump that failed (handle broke off) while I was attempting to fill my road bike tires past 80 psi. That pump was from a company with a four-letter name ending in "LL". The Topeak Joe Blow Max easily pumped the same tires up to the 100 PSI I desired with minimal effort. On the downside, because of the narrowness of the barrel, it takes many strokes to air up a 26" MTB tire to 65 PSI. If you ONLY fill large-volume tires, you'll be better served by a larger-diameter pump.I don't understand the shade thrown at this (and other) pumps' "inaccurate" gauges. The PSI scale on the gauge is only marked in 5-PSI increments, so I think the gauge is expected to be used as a general indicator of when you're nearing the pressure you want. I found it to be 2-3 PSI off (interpolating between the gauges markings) when compared to a know-accurate gauge. While it appears to be overall a quality piece, I worry that the plastic lever to clamp the head to the valve might break from stress over time; that's why only 4 stars for the sturdiness aspect.Other downside, and this has nothing to do with the pump itself: It was shipped via UPS, and arrived with the box almost fully open, and no packing materials whatsoever. I don't know whether it was simply thrown in the box and UPS did their usual thing (I have literally never received package delivered by UPS that wasn't damaged in some way) or all the packing fell out of the box after it came open. The pump itself was undamaged though, so I kept it and am using it. Note to vendor: Please try & find another way to ship!

Good, well made pump. Fair market value for quality and price.

I bought this pump to replace an old Bell bike pump I was using. I am fairly experienced in cycling, and I figured it was time I had a pump to match the quality of my bike. I've used other Topeak products before, and always had a good experience. My other family members have lower-end bikes with Schrader valves (think of the valve on a car tire), while my bike is equipped with Presta valves. The idea of having one pump for both - without using those little adapters - was appealing to say the least!Visually, this pump is as good looking as they come. The lettering on the side is quite large and some might find it ostentatious, but it's a bike pump! The base is wide enough for a grown man to put both feet on, so stability is not an issue. The long barrel length also means you can get a lot of air in with each pump, and the aluminum construction means it will be reliable. The built-in guage is a stand-out feature, and it even includes a movable arrow that you can position on the pressure you want. It doesn't stop the pump there automatically, but it makes it easier to be consistent as you're pumping. The highlight of this pump is the double-sided head that allows for both Schrader and Presta valves to be used. The head has a yellow lever that you move to the side to lock the pump onto the valve. Gone are the days of snapping your knuckle when you try to undo the lock! This design is much more ergonomic than others I've tried. The hinge is very stiff at first, but after a few uses, it loosens up (though it never got too loose).I've been using this pump several times a week for about a month, and it shows no sign of breaking or wear. Overall, I'm extremely impressed and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a quality pump at half the price of the equivalent Specialized or Bontrager!

Works well - good buy. We've had this for 2 years now and it still does a great job of pumping up the tyres on our bikes. I love being able to check the pressure of the tyres to make sure we get it right. Extremely quick to clip the nozzle onto the tyre and the pump action is v easy - and there's a small area at the base which you can stand on when you're pumping up your tyres which makes the pumping easier - very clever design.

This pump was purchased because of its wide range of applications. My bicycle tires have Presta valves while my daughter has Schraeder, along with miscellaneous balls around the house to fill with air; this pump suits every need. The portable pump I carry with me on my commuter bicycle feels like it is going to explode as I near 80 PSI, whereas this Topeak pump fills the tires with ease. I'm not a bike expert, but this pump seems durable. The gauge is easy to read. It's accuracy was checked against an air pressure gauge I have used for my car. They read the same. (Either they are both right, or both wrong.)I initially purchased this pump because when trying to fill my daughters 12" tire with air, the hand pump I had would not fit in between the spokes of her wheel. Needless to say, this worked perfectly.Though the (yellow) lever on the part that attaches to the tire valve is plastic, and seems a little flimsy, I would recommend this pump because maybe that is what it should be made of... once again, I'm not an expert.

Outstanding quality product all around. Simple to use--for those who have complained that it slips off when pumping they haven't applied it properly as far as I can see. It did slip off the first couple of times because I didn't apply it securely. The extras of b-ball or football pump is great as well as its simple versatility for presta & shcrader and easy to read large gauge. Beats other prices of inferior pumps.

Solid bike/ball pump, includes ball needle and a inflation adapter for pumping up inflatable toys/pools, etc. Very well made and easy to use. I've even used the pump to fill air in my car when it was low and didn't take too many pumps to get the air pressure back within range. Pump has both Schrader and Presta valve built in, the handle feels solid and comfortable to grip. Price was very good on Amazon and the built quality seem to be decent as well.
