I hooked this up to our rain barrel drip system so when we're away (or forgetful) the plants get watered. Neighbors don't have to water plants each day. Just stop by to be sure the barrel isn't empty then refill as needed when there's no rain. This unit works with low pressure setups like our rain barrel system. Others won't work unless you have water pressure from a city system/well pump.

I’m happy with this timer for my extremely low pressure gravity feed rain barrel irrigation. Since it’s for low pressure systems, it may not work with city water pressures. I do wish I could get more filters for this timer, since rain barrels grow algae and tend to clog the filter. For my system, I clean the incoming and outgoing filters once a month to keep the water flowing through to my plants.

I tired several other hose timers from my local hardware store, but all of them require the high pressure coming from a garden hose to work. This timer only opens and closes a valve and doesn't require any level of back pressure. If you're using a rain barrel system, this is the only type of valve that works.Be sure to bring in the timer over the winter. Mine failed after two years of being outside, but I chalk that up to user error.

Have 4 others that all work but this latest one does not work. The low battery light comes on almost immediately and the voltage across the batteries drops. Batteries get warm so I guess there is a short in there somewhere. Turning the switch to ON works a couple of times then stops working

Welp, I gave it a 1 star review as it died less than 1 season into use. I was using a gravity fed Drip irrigation from a storage tank 20 ft above the "timer" as it provided 6-8 PSI of pressure depending on the fill level of the tank. It worked great for a while... Then it stopped turning on or off. I had a inline 100 micron filter before the timer to ensure that it was not clogged.so the best thing was that it was cheap. I have since moved to a timer that runs for a set duration at dawn and have given up on this one, even though I think this one works better for constant drip.

I purchased this for a specific application that requires somewhat accurate, consistent timing. It drains a tub 4 times a day after another timer fills the tub. It works great with just gravity flow. Upstream from this unit is a screen-type irrigation filter and then the tub it drains. It opens and drains properly. I did contact Toro about the accuracy of the timer. They said the frequency timer drifts (plus or minus) about 1 second every 24 hours which is no problem at all. So far an excellent device that has really helped with my gravity-flow system.

I am giving it 5 stars simply because it is the only product on the market that does low pressure with a warranty. Other products here on Amazon or other sites are from companies I have never heard of, only have a 30 or 90 day warranty, or don't have valve systems that work with low pressure. All the expensive digital faucet timers cut water pressure by 50-70%. So they are simply not usable. The bad:1. The connections are plastic. I expect them to leak or break and have to return them under warranty.2. The black hose connection does not turn except if you have the finger strength of the Incredible Hulk. So you have to get a pliers, which the instructions say not to use on the cheap plastic.3. The timer setup is not digital and there is no clock. So as others have noted here the experience is less than easy.4. There is no wifi. So if you are expecting to turn on and off the faucet from your smart phone or monitor watering in any way, you cannot.5. They are bulky so even if you have a two way or four way hose splitter these may not fit when connected to the outlet as they are typically too close together.

Used this on a water barrel and it worked on the low pressure setup. However, it leaked from faucet/tap coupling and I had to use silicone sealant to seal it. There is a minor mistake in the manual - where it stated that the indicator light will flash green, it doesn’t.Also, a digital timer would have provided more flexible frequency and duration settings but I could not find one that works with low pressure.

I bought 4 of these for an outdoor low pressure irrigation system. Used since June of 2020 and now in Aug of 2020 only 2 are working. The broken ones just keep making clicking sounds. I think it is a defect with the inside working parts. So buyers beware you might get a short life span on this. Better product testing should be in place on this device.

I ordered this after installing a rain barrel. The first one came and I hooked it up but the only setting that would open the valve is "ON". No other frequency setting opened the valve. When I turned it to ON, I could hear and see the valve open. When I turned it to 30 Mins, it closed. It also states that a green light is supposed to display when the valve is opened - that did not happen either (even when the valve actually opened when "ON"). So I sent that one back for a replacement thinking I just got a bad one. The new one came 2 days later and behaves the exact same way. This thing is simply a battery operated valve - no timer features at all. It's either ON or OFF by the manual switch - nothing but junk. Sending this one back too. What a waste of my time when I am trying to go on vacation and would like to have my garden watered for me.
