I use this for my HF Hamsticks. Easy to use and versatile. Switching between antennas is easy. I've been able to make SSB contacts all over the US and some to Europe.I can leave it on the car roof when on the road, but it will not be secure when the antenna is screwed in. Hamsticks are too tall anyway.

Good product, the 17' cord may be an issue for some not me tho, stays in place works as it should no complaints.

The magnet is very strong and that could be a bad thing. Due to round smooth shape there is no good holding for your hand when you try to remove it from the roof of your car.For holding up big antenna this magnet mount wouldn’t break a sweat. My antenna is the Tram open coil total length is about 50” and this mount carried the antenna and withstood 70 mph without falling over.

This worked better on VHF but the magnet 🧲 still failed at highway speed (50mph) and came off the roof. If that hit someone that would be a real problem. Good SWR and it was getting out but it will fly off.

The mag-mount was well built. A very clean and tidy construction, much higher quality than similar items I have bought previously. The cable and plug also appeared to be of better quality than other similar mag-mounts I have bought.It was more expensive than similar items I have bought, nevertheless I would say it was worth spending a little more.

The magnet seems to be extremely strong, I have gone thru car washes etc but I remove the antenna from the mount. I bought a quick disconnect for that purpose. I have no issues with reception on my antenna. I have achieved a suitable SWR reading. I wasn't sure the cable would be long enough but I ran it from the rear centre of the roof of my Ram 1500 and down between the bed and cab and then up into the vehicle thru the rear passenger door ending at the centre console where the CB is located and it reached with a couple inches to spare.

Just be aware that all magnet mounts need to be on top of a big enough metal ground plane. When using it on top of a car, the car's metal frame acts as the ground plane and will have low 1.05 SWR (which is a good thing, tested with Shark S-FM10 and MFJ 1414 antennas).But if you are going to use it indoors and not on top of a car, you can put it on top of anything metal but make sure it has enough metal otherwise you will get high SWR and the antenna won't work properly. I tried using a 25x17 inch metal oven tray but that wasn't big enough, not until I put the tray on top of an all metal chair, then the it was 1.05 SWR again. A big metal trash bin would work too, but check with an SWR meter to be sure (tested with Surecom SW102 meter and MFJ 874 meter).So this magnet mount can be used as a base station antenna mount as long as you have a big enough metal ground plane, or taken to the car, and that's my set up for emergency usage and casual usage as a new technician.Last tip is to do a quick wipe on your car roof where you will put the magnet mount, otherwise if it's too dusty it could lose some holding power if you are driving freeway speeds, better safe than sorry ha.

I built this antenna for my 2010 HHR. I made a static mount to go with it, but im not ready to drill it out yet. I bought this magnet mount just so i can use it to test. I want to test antenna placement so magnet mount will allow me to move it in diff. locations. I was concerned this wasnt going to hold it as you can say it has a pretty large footprint. Mounted antenna and stuck it down. Seemed doomed didnt feel like a strong bond, so i removed scratch guard and it stuck with twice the force it had. Took it out on the Hi-way got her up to 85mph. Antenna stayed put. I honestly didnt expect it to hold but it performed excellent. Made well, decent coax for the money. For 15bux you cant go wrong. I wouldnt use a long firestick type antenna. or solid antenna much longer than 2 foot.
