They do the job of assisting the hunter to get his bow, rifle, bag, whatever, up into the tree stand. It operates quietly, which is very important. You have to make sure you tie it of at the cleat located at the bottom of it cause if you don't, there's no brake & whatever you're lifting up, the weight of it will make it take off. It'll crash to the ground & you'll ruin whatever it is, which would be horrible. The reason I say "iffy" is cause it's made of plastic & when plastic gets cold, you accidentally drop it or bang it, it's gonna crack/break. So time will tell how well it holds up
