First and most important: This is a carbon dioxide (CO₂) detector—not a carbon monoxide (CO) detector. CO₂ is a marker of ventilation and indoor air quality, rising in proportion to the number of people exhaling in a space. In contrast, CO is a highly toxic gas produced by combustion (e.g., car exhaust) and requires entirely different detection. Do not confuse the two. This manufacturer makes both types and they look somewhat alike so be very sure you are purchasing the correct one for your intended purpose. This CO₂ detector appears well-designed and constructed from solid materials. Note that it requires AC power (it must be plugged in) and does not run on batteries. The gold standard for CO₂ detection is non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensing, but that technology is expensive. For general home use, a unit like this—likely using solid-state or electrochemical sensors—is sufficient.I don’t have a way to formally calibrate it with a known gas source, but it reads around 500 ppm in a well ventilated apartment (which is reasonable) and up to 1100 ppm when I exhale gently toward it. The response time is about five seconds. If I get a chance to compare it with a calibrated CO₂ detector, I’ll report back—but for now, it seems accurate, responsive and a bargain at this price.

This is a CO2 detector NOT a carbon monoxide detector. I don't really have much need to monitor the CO2 level in my home so it's use will be as a temp and humidity sensor. This has no "smart" features. I would prefer a product that have wifi and is compatible with Ring or Alexa. This is not compatible with either. No smart phone alerts.Since I couldn't care less about the CO2 in my home this product is basically useless. Please don't confuse CO2 with CO which is the deadly gas and the one you want to monitor. It seems the same company makes this product but for Carbon Monoxide so make sure you get the right one.

It seems fairly accurate. I have an inkbird that is dead on, and this one, when placed next to it was very close to it. The only issue I have, and I knew it doing in, is that this one has to be attached to the wall via the plugin. No big deal, but it does make it harder to see. Another thing about this vs the inkbird, the numbers change a lot more on this. It has a much higher “refresh”. Where the inkbird will stay on 630, this one will jump from 620 to 640 and ever number between about once a second. The display is nice and bright with red, yellow and green style warnings. Overall, it’s a good CO2 monitor to let you know just how good or bad your indoor air quality is.

My husband told me a few months ago that he wanted me to order a carbon dioxide detector."We've got a carbon monoxide detector," I said. "Remember? We tested it with a candle.""Not MONOXIDE. Carbon DIOXIDE." I made a snarky comment about poisonous carbon dioxide and was informed that in Software Engineering Land, the carbon dioxide meter is the new hot gizmo because poor indoor air quality with excessive amounts of carbon dioxide can lead to--restlessness--drowsiness--headaches--poor concentrationand we are 4 for 4. So I ordered it.Turns out the ventilation in our house is garbage because the reading in our bedroom in the morning is 2500. All over our house, it's stuffy and has high CO2 and now he has the documentation of why he has to open the windows. This meter is easy to use. My husband attached an extension cord to make it easier to take readings in specific spots. A very loud alarm goes off if you have bad indoor air quality (over 1500 PPM). Ours is averaging 2000+. The meter is easy to read. Our indoor air quality is better now than it has been because of this meter, giving him the ammunition to get us to open the windows when it's cold and rainy. I guess he was right all along because I'm spending more time outside and I'm a lot less sleepy.
