I’m glad we are able to get these replacement handles as there seems to be a design flaw for this refrigerator handle. We had to replace the handle a few months after we bought the condo and the replacement broke in the exact same place a little over a year later. So now I have this back up handle ready for the next break. Whirlpool needs to figure out a thicker top piece so they stop cracking right at the edge of the door, next to the screws.

This fit my General Electric fridge perfectly however, it did not come with the screws… Luckily, I had them from my old handle… You also need two different types of screwdrivers to attach the handle. One Phillips head, and one star.

These work as well as the OEM ones but both are a poor design. They should be enforced with metal. But these work ok for our rentals and are cheap enough to replace easily when (not if) they break.

It fits, it is as good as the original handle, which means it will also break at the top screw hole without any abuse or children in the house mistreating it. Two older adults in home, yet the handle will break about every two years. It simply is a poor design. But I will likely need to buy this again in a couple years or less.

only problem was the screw that wass used to tighten the botom of the handle to the door. the screw required a special screwdriver not normally used. i was able to use another tool to wok the screw tight enough that it didn't wobble. another possible problem was that, if you didn't tighten the top and bottom properly, it could cause weakness in the handle that would make it break prematurely. i believe i fastened it properly, taking into account the possible stresses that might occur if improperly tightened. time will tell if i was successful. so far so good.

Handle fit exactly like the original and the two previous replacements. That is, it does not fit correctly. It is very slightly too long, causing a strain to be made on the very thinnest and weakest part where it curves into the top of the door to be fastened down. And no, that design flaw is not fixed by “precisely following the installation instructions” despite that advice to be found on the Internet. I made a cardboard shim and put it under the upper mounting surface to see if that helps the handle lady a bit longer by alleviating the strain. Now, NONE of this is my current seller’s fault. They didn’t design or manufacture this handle. A big shout out that they still sell just the upper handle by itself. Every other source makes you buy the kit containing both fridge and freezer handles even though the freezer handle never breaks. Of course the kit with its unneeded freezer handle costs twice as much as this single handle. The shipping was even quicker than promised too. Only downside...my question through amazon to the seller asking if this was the correct handle for my fridge (which has a different part number by a couple digits than the one in the listing) was never answered. I did take a chance and it is the correct handle.
