Quite a easy install, just looked up a Youtube video. Had the Spotify Car Thing before this but got this as that is losing support. This enables much functionality when compared to the Car Thing while keeping the OEM look. Only problem I have is that holding down the Channel buttons to skip songs causes a long beep, I don't know if that can be disabled. And if the volume is too low (only applies to IOS), go to bluetooth settings, click the little "i" next to the one corresponding to your BT45, and switch type to "Car Stereo"; this more than doubled my volume.

I have a 2005 Acura RL with factory XM. I wanted to use my iPhone for podcasts so I bought this unit: USA Spec BT45-ACU Bluetooth Phone, Music & AUX Input Kit for Select 2005-2009 Acura Models, Black. Found XM receiver in the trunk and plugged this in and it worked right off the bat. It’s been almost a year now and it’s working flawlessly.I like the fact that the song and artist info show up on the Acura’s screen and center console. And that I can advance the music using the factory buttons. So I finally decided to snake the microphone to the front of the car through the back seat hole and under the floor boards to the driver footwell. That’s as far as it reached. Took me 1/2 an hour. Siri picks up my voice commands perfectly. And my voice sounds pretty good on calls. There are cheaper units out there. But this unit had good reviews and a well written manual so I decided to get this one. It’s not often that something exceeds my expectation - but this gadget completely changed my commute.

I skipped the mic install as it wasn’t needed - made the install incredibly simple - popped the glove box down, put the BT module inline as instructed, tucked it away, and called it done. My cabin air filter was literally right there, so I popped a new one in while I was at it. 15 minute install after dark in a parking lot with a flashlight - it’d take 5 if I had to do it again, it was that simple.Girlfriend sits shotgun and controls the music - it auto connects to her phone and auto plays within seconds of starting the car. Easy install, auto operation, great sound quality, no engine noise - fit our needs perfectly. To potential buyers: I recommend it if it fits your car, and if your CABIN AIR FILTER is where mine is, you’ll thank yourself later for taking the

Overall:Installation is possible to do yourself in about 30 – 60 minutes. The sound quality is great and it works as if my car had native Bluetooth. Great product!InstallationI found a video on Youtube to help with the installation. The video showed where all of the screws are and how to remove the covers to get to the XM unit. You will need two flat headed screw drivers and 10MM socket. I also used Velcro to affix the unit to the car so that it doesn’t rattle around. It wasn’t complex once you follow the directions in the video.Connection:Follow your phone’s directions to connect any new Bluetooth device. It was super simple and connected within seconds. No issues with this at all.Features (sound quality and display):To me, the sound was as good as my car’s native radio. It was impressive and very easy. Within seconds of starting to play, the display on my radio shows the track information. Also, when I start the car, it automatically resumes play with the last selection. I find this to be fantastic since I take short trips and don’t want to have to hassle with connecting it. It operates essentially like a radio.I didn’t install the microphone so that I can continue to use the car’s native hands free link. I tested a call, the native hands free link answered the call and my phone stopped playing music. When the call ended, the music resumed with intervention.Caution:Make sure that you get the proper unit for your car. Mine has the navigation so I needed the ACU unit.

So far this Bluetooth unit has been working perfectly for me.It connects up to my phone immediately, and the sound quality is amazing! In fact, the sound quality is way better than using an aux cord. Calling works seamlessly and people on the other end say I sound like I am sitting right next to them the sound quality is so good. Caller number and track information come up seamlessly on my navigation unit. This unit acts and feels completely OEM and I am very satisfied with my purchase.Several things to note:On the install, it did not work at first, but that was quickly fixed by turning all of the dip switches on. Not a big deal.If you have an Acura TL, the microphone line is about 2-3ft too short to mount on your visor unless you run it over top. I ran it down low and the cable stops halfway up the column. I have mine mounted on the air vent right now and it works fine, but seriously, would an extra 2 feet of cable break the bank on an already pretty expensive unit? It really only affects the cosmetics as the functionality is still in tact, but still...A couple of features that this unit is missing that it should have for the price:This device should definitely have multi-device pairing for such an expensive unit as another review noted. I have to unpair my phone (and thus lose hands free calling) whenever my friends want to pair their phones for music. This is rather annoying and should be present.I also wish this device had a feature where you could hold down a button to activate Siri/Okay Googgle in a similar manner to the OEM hands-free link for placing calls. I have to dial out the number on my phone instead of voice dialing. Not a huge grievance but something to note.Overall I greatly enjoy the functionality that this unit provides to my Acura TL Type S. Playing music from my phone is so much better and easier know and I have the hands free calling again since my OEM unit died. It is on the pricier side for what is it offering but this is the only unit that will provide an OEM feel. I am knocking one star off for the microphone cable. Despite a few lacking features I am glad overall that I bought the unit. Hope this review helps!
