Bought for my Masters aged wife to learn to throw. The jav is fine for learning and practicing with but did not pass inspection at a Seniors/Masters Games competition. Something to do with the tip being too round, or wide?I see now that the jav is advertised as a practice jav, with no mention of being accepted into competition. Thus, if all you want is a learning jav you are fine with this. If needed for competition you may be disappointed.

The Javelin arrived within the projected time frame.However, the way the javelin was packaged undoubtedly created the bend in the tail area (that part that was outside the cardboard tube.The javelin is placed head first into a long cardboard tube, which is great. The problem is that the tube isn't long enough, so they used shrink wrap and tape to secure the tail to the tube, as it protrudes about a foot out of the cardboard tube. Another tube end, cut to about 18 inches and secured over the end of the javelin would have been great. It's an example of a job done unwell. I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. It was already hard finding a reasonably affordable javelin, and now you need to worry about the .50 cents of packaging that could have avoided the problem. I might end up returning it.

OK, so the four stars is a preliminary rating. I've thrown it, but it was an easy workout. I'll be back to revise this review when I've had more time with it. The photo shows a Polanik, an AUSSIE 2000 and the Vinex, all 500 gm, aligned at the tip. Comparatively, the Vinex is longer and the cord is displaced forward. The Vinex has a tailwind tip. It's just a different creature. So I measured what I can (no tools or scale). Overall length and center of gravity are comfortably within 500g implement specs (table 6, pg. 42, USATF National Officials Committee Training Monograph Series, 2/11). So I'm really jazzed to have a new javelin that is quite different than those I own or have thrown. This may be a teaching moment. One negative comment. I've never seen such casual shipping for an implement. It came in a plastic bag in a long, thin cardboard box. Arrived in perfect condition, but what are the odds?

Bought this August 2016 for my child's training. Many hours of practice and still doing the job. A very good buy. Would def recommend.
