This toilet seat was perfect for post hamstring surgery recovery. It took a long time to arrive, though. I ordered the 4 inch thick one first, based on reviews and the fact that I could get it faster., but that was too much padding for my needs.

My husband bought this for me after a total knee replacement. It is a horrible design. It attaches with small suction cup to your toilet seat. It is made of plastic covered foam so when a suction cup comes loose, you slide a little to the side making it unstable. I only used it about 3 days and decided it was too dangerous to use. I would NEVER recommend this product and it will work better in the trash.

This this is a comfortable seat while recovering from hip surgery however, the suction cups do not work and you have to sit very carefully to make sure it doesn’t come off of the toilet seat.

Update: just bought another pad and it has 8 instead of 4 suction cups and firmer foam. Works great. So very happy. 😊Made of old or cheap foam.Suction cups keep coming loose.I bought the 2" one 2 years ago. It felt like foamed-rubber not just foam like this. They obviously don't make them quality anymore. After one week it has substantially shrunk to 3" instead of 4". When I sit, it shrinks to ¾" beneath me.I am only 5' 1", and 170 lbs.Won't last long. Save your money.

Was told ahead of hip replacement surgery about need for toilet riser and safety rails. Our toilet is newer/taller, so the surgery nurse said safety rails should be sufficient which we did buy. But I did not see any warning from my surgeon's office or the many online hip replacement websites/videos that sitting on the toilet seat could be extremely painful! My bandaged incision was directly on the toilet seat and since there is a hole in the middle, more of my body weight was pressing directly on my incision making it very painful to sit for what is already a difficult task to perform given pain med constipation and mobility limitations. This device made a dramatic difference! The extra 2" of height was nice too, but the cushioning was what makes this a must have for hip surgery in my opinion, combined with safety rails. The suctions cups held it in place no problem, which was why I selected this one over the other options where people noted the velcro straps would allow shifting. We cleaned the seat and wetted the cups before pressing done and they seem very solid. And this one allowed returns which was a big plus since you never know what your gonna get. My only regret was not getting this ahead of my surgery.

I bought this for my husband when he had a hip replacement and it turned out to be a disaster. When this product is put on a toilet seat it does not stay in place and slips quite easily which makes the probability of a fall quite high. A fall onto the tile bathroom floor is the absolute last thing a person who is just had surgery needs so this product is counterproductive and As far as I’m concerned it’s dangerous

I put mine into a nylon bag and take it with me whenever I go - just in case the toilet seat is too low to use comfortably. I also use it as a "booster" seat in restaurants. It is very easy to use (unlike plastic toilet seat risers, which are much heavier and require you to lift the toilet seat up and then deal with the cleanliness of the toilet in public washrooms). It stays in place, is easy to clean with a disinfectant wipe and carry with you.

We have trouble getting up and down for the toilet. This cushion raises the seat area, so that one can squat easily down on to the seat. Due to the foam construction, it is comfortable. One negative factor is that the suction cups for the seat cushion lose adhesion after some time. One must be careful that it will not slide when you usethe seat next time.
