If you sharpen your broad head on a sharpening jig, DO NOT PURCHASE THESE BROAD HEADS !! The cut angle is machined at an unusual angel that can not be sharpened in a jig and they are not hunt ready sharp out of the package. They will need to be sharpened.

I have a razor sharp set to hunt with and a set to practice with, as well as their same weight field points. There are very few options for left hand single bevels in this weight. Maybe the only option in this weight, without spending double or triple the money. No regrets being "stuck" with only one choice in VPA.

These heads are very easy to shoot. The weight is within 1 grain on the scale. The do require sharpening before use, do yourself a favor and buy an adjustable sharpener. They are a 35° bevel and the stay sharp jig works good. The adjustable one would work even better

To be forward there is some time needed to get these razor sharp out of the package, however the elbow grease is well worth the effort. I do use a third party sharpening jig to both expedite the process in addition to maintaining consistency. With the 300 grain option the broadhead ratio is just about 3:1; penetration with traditional archery tackle has been a non-issue with these VPAs as part of my setup. While the cutting diameter is a modest 1 1/8" the blood trails are not lacking in my experience.

Follows Dr.Ashby’s research on the best design for a big game broadhead. It looks very well made. It is a single bevel broadhead, designed to add rotational forces to split bone and increase the wound channel on big game. I have not used them yet. As with any broadhead, I would recommend sharpening them and test shoot for accuracy.

First, these do NOT come sharpened well enough for hunting. Buy a stay sharp guide at 35 degrees, and boy oh boy - you're going to spend a LONG while at 200 grit sandpaper or diamond stone getting your first burr on each edge, like 30minutes to break through along the entire length of the cutting edge. Thankfully after that first burr, the rest come much more quickly and you'll be slicing rubber bands or paper like a chef's knife if you do it right.Im shooting mine out of an Excalibur Bulldog 440 - with the proflight bolts that puts me at 454 grains and the fly like a boss.I have full confidence in these things until I hit a rock and then we'll see.*Unless you pay for it, expect these things to come in dull. Its expected for you to sharpen these things yourself. The attached picture is from the 200 grit diamond stone after 20 minutes, and it took me about another 40 minutes to get a burr down the entire edge. These things are at a rockwell hardness of 55 - if you dont want to spend ages sharpening, get the lower carbon version thats at 48 rockwell.*Update*Yeah they fly freaking perfectly out to 50 yards

I wanted something that I could use for years and these things are awesome. They fly good and work good. Actually give good blood trails unlike I would have thought. Does take awhile to figure out how to sharpen the single bevel though but once you get it sharp it's a lot easier to re sharpen
