The Q/C-II Lanyard remains on the staff and can be easily connected to the Gear Keeper for use. Grab Your Staff, Use It, let It Go. The Hammerhead Gear Keep does a fine job of keeping my net or my wading staff close at hand when needed and out of the way when not needed. A good product that's well made and highly functional.

I use it for my wading staff while fly fishing. I have it attached to my wading belt. I got the proper lenth adjustment via the included harness and it hangs perfect when not in use. Have even walked along the trail and just let it drag, and it tugs it along fine. Would be great for a fishing net as well, if you can find a location for it. Easy to pull out and retracts perfectly. I would buy another just like this if needed.

The gear keeper is an excellent product to hold your wading staff. Just the right amount of tension to the staff at your hip and expand to use your staff.

This retractor has enough beef to it to retract my wading pole and keep it close at hand. I keep it on my right side because my right arm is stronger. I just switch my fly rod to my left when I move.

As with so many fishing technologies, time will tell the tale. After a month of almost daily use on trout streams, this retractor is working flawlessly. Just enough tension in the line. Releases the cord attached to the staff after an appropriate amount of strain. I like it
