Pecan BBQ cooking chunks create a strong smoke similar to Hickory, but they add a sweeter flavor to meat. Pecan wood smoke pairs well with pork, as well as heavier meats like beef and lamb. For use with lighter foods such as poultry and vegetables, mix Pecan chunks with Apple BBQ cooking chunks. Instructions HOW TO COOK WITH JUST CHUNKS To retain the natural flavor, we recommend building your fire without lighter fluid. Instead, use a solid fire starter. Stack dry cooking chunks in a pyramid on top of a solid fire starter leaving an edge exposed. Then light the fire starter. Let the chunks burn for approximately 15 to 20 minutes with the lid and all vents open. For a milder flavor, allow additional time for the wood to cook down. Close the vents and lid. Wait about one minute for flame to subside, then open lid and spread chunks evenly. Place food on the grill and close the lid. Cooking with the lid closed prevents flare-ups and allows the wood to give better smoke flavor to the foods cooked. HOW TO USE WITH CHARCOAL We recommend cooking the natural way by using lump charcoal instead of briquets and using a solid fire starter instead of fluid to avoid having any chemicals influence your food. Light the charcoal using your preferred method. Several minutes prior to cooking, add 3-5 dry chunks on a standard grill. Add more for large smokers. Continue to add chunks every 20-30 minutes during the cooking process to infuse that great smoke flavor.

A couple chunks adds a nice subtle smoke to your flavour profile. Doesn’t overpower and become the flavour profile!

My husband's second wife is his Big Green Egg. He loves his (he has two) and he uses this brand and a lot more of their woods for cooking often. These are wonderful, our food comes out tasting wonderfully smoked. He keeps going back & will keep going back to this brand.

I have a side firebox smoker set up and LOVE to use these wood chunks along with hickory chunks. I am big on smoke flavor, but not too much smoke (why i dont use mesquite). This adds a perfect balance of a little bit of sweet to the hickory mix when i do my ribs. I picked these up when they were 4.98/add on and made sure to pick up a couple as our local store sells the bags for 6.99, or the nearest walmart sells them for 5.99, but we choose not to do the 20min drive to walmart

Quality Product and Price!Western's line of wood chunks for grilling are wonderful! They are at LEAST half the price that it costs at the store, and the quality is excellent! Most of the chunks are evenly sized, and they release great flavor. We bought cherry, mesquite, hickory, and pecan to use in our ceramic grill. The chunks were the right size for my smoker. The chips that I had been using were thin pieces of wood and that burned up too quickly.All the wood was good quality. All the pieces are not exactly the same size but I don't think that could be expected. The occasional piece that is a little too big is easily modified by a small hand ax from the hardware store. Even that occurs only about once every 2 or 3 bags.
