I purchased this clear window insulator kit to cover one of our windows to prevent heat leaks during the cold winter months. It includes double backed tape and a thick clear 38” x 62” plastic to cover a 3 ft x 5 ft window. I have used similar window insulator kits that include thin clear plastic sheets to cover the windows that can be cut to size and you use a hair dryer to shrink the plastic. I see a problem with this kit because the plastic seems too thick. Instruction were missing from the product. Maybe it could have answered my questions. But I have used this type of window insulator and can install without instructions next winter.

The instructions for these are on the product description page and it's pretty basic. This is not the type of plastic shrink wrap for windows that you use heat or a hair dryer with. This has "velcro" type strips that you put around the window. There is also adhesive tape. You are basically just blocking the window off and insulating for drafts. I received this too late to use this winter, so I am putting it away for next winter. I have a very drafty living room window that I am going to use this on. I typically use bubble wrap on the glass pane and then shrink wrap over that. This kind of saves me a step. I like that's a thicker insulating plastic and some light will still get in. If you look at the pictures on the description page showing how this looks installed, it's relatively simple. They could have included better instructions but if you are familiar with insulating drafty windows, this isn't that hard.

Okay, I'm new to the keep the cold out and the heat in knowledge, and for me 38F is cold, and these single pane, garage converted, non-insulated ceiling and walls, concrete floored rooms, may be a step up from being in a cave, I don't know. I've not lived in a cave. It's time for me to do something to help myself. In comes the heavy duty, extra large bubble, bubble wrap... at least that's what it looks like. Well alright, bubble wrapped sandwiched inbetween two other pieces of plastic. Well if that's all that it takes, I'm in. Having this heat cold barrier with light being able to pass through is a plus. Using thermal insulating curtains is great at night, but I want some light in here please, during the day.Easy to install, it fits my window and it looks like what you'd think it would look like, that's right, a bubble wrapped window and I don't care. Light is coming through and it seems to work, as I stand by it I can no longer feel the cold of a glass window. Now what can I do about these non-insulated walls...
