The 8-Bit System is a group of multi-tools designed to work together to solve most trailside fixes to keep you rolling to the trailhead or next town. They are lightweight, strong, versatile, and small enough to fit in a jersey pocket or riding tool wrap. The three neatly nest together using magnets and clever machining for compact storage. 8-Bit Kit One has 23 functions between the three multi-tools.

8-BIT PACK PLIERS MULTI-TOOL has 17 functions. On one end of the multi-tool, an 8mm hex swivel head serves as a driver for the bits that are stored inside: flat head #3.5 and phillips #2 screwdriver bits; 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6mm hex; and T10 and T25 Torx-compatible bits. A spoke wrench and valve core wrench are stored on the back and a rasp is on the inside of the upper handle for clearing sealant from valve stems. On the other end of the multi-tool, pliers for master link installation/removal and tightening/loosening of valve stem nuts.

8-BIT TIRE LEVER + RIM DENT REMOVER MULTI-TOOL has two functions. A slender, ergonomic plastic tire lever is on one end opposite of a machined aluminum rim dent remover. The tire lever will work with all tubed and tubeless tires, while the rim dent remover is compatible with all metal rims.

8-BIT CHAINBREAKER + UTILITY KNIFE MULTI-TOOL has four functions. It has a chainbreaker on one end and a retractable utility blade on the other. The chain tool is operated by an included 3mm hex L key that doubles as a tire plug inserter. A machined slot fits the L key and converts the entire multi-tool into a tire plug inserter, with the forked end of the L key extending outward. The handles of this multi-tool slide open to provide storage for tire plug inserts, a valve core, and a spare mini utility blade. The fourth function is the 16mm chainbreaker head that can be used to tighten a loose crankarm during rides.

8-Bit Pack Pliers

8-Bit Pack Pliers

The 8-Bit Pack Pliers is a lightweight multi-tool with 17 functions. Eight attachments nest inside the handles of the master link pliers using magnets and a clever storage system. These attachments then fit into an 8mm ball detent swivel head that has a 4mm opening for hex bits, which adds functionality to the already-versatile master link pliers. This multi-tool was created to solve almost any minor repair on MTB and road rides alike.

17 functions: spoke wrench; valve core wrench; flat head #3.5 and Phillips #2 screwdriver bits; 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8mm hex; and T10, T25 Torx-compatible bits; install and remove master links; clear tire sealant clogs from valve stem; tighten valve stem lock nut.

I was reluctant to spend the $139 for the tool but it seemed like a great idea to have all the tools in one tool however, it was a major pain to use trailside. The bits are small and black and the magnets that hold them in came out with the bits when I tried to pull one out. I lost a bit the first time I used the tool. The magnets came out from more than 2 or 3 spots and wont stay put in the tool. For $139 it isn't worth it and is super frustrating to use. You'd be better off with the Crank Brothers F16 or the Topeak Mini 18 for less than 1/2 the price of the Wolf Tooth tool and buying a seperate pair of pliers if you want them. I did hot glue the magnets in and it is much better and works as intended.

I like that the tool is compact and contains most of the tools I should need for a trailside fix. What I dislike is that it didn't come with a storage pouch. I ended up making my own from leather. The other draw back is the bits could be easily lost if you drop one. This wouldn't be a big deal but you need wolf tooth bits. I wish it took standard size ones which you can find anywhere.

Product will get you out of a pinch but it’s a little pricy and not as solid as other multi tools I’ve used in the past. Also, getting to each tool is not a seamless process as other systems and makes it even more annoying if you happen to grab wrong size bit. I think for $80 I could give this a 4 or even a five star. Value just isn’t their at this price point.

I've had this for only like 2 weeks and it comes in handy! its a little on the thicker side when everything is together but the amount of stuff you get with it is amazing. The price is a hard pill to swallow but this tool is legitimately worth its weight in gold when you are broke down on the side of a trail.
