How to Use Yarn Ball Winder
1. Clamp the ball winder to table or other support using integral clamp, Clamp is controlled by turning red knob.
2. Set spindle into geared base by aligning notches While holding geared base, turn spindle clockwise to secure.
3. Pull out the end of the yarn and pass it through the yarn guide .
4. Insert the yarn end into the groove of the cone.
5. Turn the handle to the right side The yarn will start winding around the cone.
6. Keep a steady pace when you turn the handle, don't do it too quickly to avoid yarn tangles.
7. Once you're done, pull out the yarn from the cone.

This works well, I did have to unwind the ball I was working from first to then wind in to the winder but the balls come out perfect.You need to keep a good tension on the wool with your hand and the little wooden dowel helped holding the tension bar in place

This is by far more infuriating than anything else. The center comes loose often, will snag and rip your yarn trying to get it out. It takes me five to eight different tries for one ball of yarn. Completely useless do not waste your money. If my return window hadn’t closed I’d return it in a heartbeat. Stopped working completely 3 months after purchase don’t waste your money
