Not really worth the price or the arm pain. It does not do a good job of crushing harder rocks. The bottom of the hammer should not be smooth. It needs spikes to break the rocks better. Softer rocks would work but not anything harder than a 6.

I don't think thin, SS is suitable for crushing rocks. I mean, I can understand why they would make this out of SS because you don't want any contamination caused by rust, paint, etc. How thick SS comes in I don't know but I assume you could make something like this that would work as long as it was sturdy enough.I didn't get this for crushing rocks though. I have two things that I'm currently crushing with this: Water softener salt pellets and lime scaling.I'm crushing some old water softener pellets into sidewalk salt and this is working great - and thank goodness this is SS so no resulting corrosion later. I'm also crushing lime scaling out of my hot water heater to add bioavailable calcium to my homemade dog food. Both of these are working great and I couldn't ask for more. It does have to be done in single layers or small layers otherwise you'll end up with lumps. You can sort the lumps out and hit them again, which works, but it's easier to just get it right the first time.I am over the moon with how well this is working and so happy I found it. Could be other things in the future may arise that need crushing and I'm ready to go. I knocked off one star because this really isn't fit for crushing rocks, which is how it was advertisement seemed to be emphasizing. However, this does not dissuade me highly recommending this item for other, lighter duty stuff. Get it. It works great!
