I have to add to the list of unsatisfied customers. I boiled this log for 10 minutes and could smell the same chemical/glue others say they smelled. I also don't understand how this got so many great reviews. I would NOT use this in any aquarium. Log also didn't feel safe or smooth for my Betta. I was refunded.

It works exactly as advertised, you may want to secure it to one area with fishing line or something though because mine always ends up under the waterfall

I don't do reviews. I will not read them. I have to say this product is amazing. A few weeks ago I thought my Betta was at death's door. Turns out it was stress. He turned completely white and fins rotted to nothing. For no explainable reason.I bought this after watching some YouTube videos on the product. I can't praise this log enough. Within 10 mins of putting it in the tank he made this his home. He loves it. 10 days on his colour is almost back and his fins have started to gro back already. His confidence has returned and he's now back to strolling about the tank like the fish he used to be.It's not cheap I admit and I was dubious about spending the money on it for what it is but I honestly can't recommend this enough.

Was not sure of the size but decided to go ahead with the small size over the regular betta size and mini. FYI small is bigger than the other two. It's not overly big and it looks great and the betta loves it. Using this in a 7 gallon aquarium and it works great. I did have to sand a couple sharp edges but that only took a few minutes no big deal. Iv always make sure to check for sharp edges on anything that has contact with any aquarium fish no matter the size. Will be buying a few more. If you're aquarium is small I would go with the original floating betta log. This works perfectly in my aquarium will be buying more of the small size floating logs. Just purchased another one for my paradise fish as well

This is an amazing log, which I purchased for my betta fish. He's a dark color, so I'm afraid I don't have any clear photos of him in it, but spends most of his time inside of this log!! I didnt even need to treat him into it- he automatically went in when I put him in the tank. Now, a few notes:-This was not marketed for betta fish. It was marketed as a toy for fish in general. In making it look realistic, it has a few sharp and rough edges on it that wouldnt hurt short finned fish, but would be very detrimental to a betta's fins. These are easily remedied with sandpaper or even a nail file. :)- It does float, and it stays upright! The bottom is weighted so that the feeding hole is at the top.-It's gonna move in the tank a bit. I have some fake plants in there, and that holds it in place pretty well. Just be warned haha

My Betta loves it. It provides a place of refuge for my Betta in a 10 gallon tank. He spends several hours a day either hiding in it, resting in it, or just getting away from whatever annoys him. Tip, position the log so that you can easily see the betta inside of it, preferably in a way so that the long end of the log is perpendicular to the front of your aquarium. The log floats and has a heavy end, so it will not flip or roll around or anything like that.I did not have the paint flaking issue that some people have had. I did, however, feel rough edges. That's a big no-no if you have a betta with delicate fins. For this, I just took some sand paper (100 or so grit is fine) and sanded down the rough edges. Just feel for rough edges around and inside of the log. It's easy to sand down. From unboxing to sanding, to running it under warm water, to drying, to then putting it inside of the tank was less than 20 minutes. If you want to mount this somewhere, be prepared to come up with something. It does not have a way of mounting or securing it. One idea is using super glue with suction cups and securing that way, or using a fishing line and securing the line to something that wont move, like a filter intake. Mine is held in place by the glass lid, as it sticks out of the water just enough to hit the lid.I plan on buying more for my other aquariums, as it looks nice and provides a nice hiding spot that is good for fish, and fun for you to watch.

Danke Zoomed!

I purchased the small Zoo Med Floating Aquarium Log for our two small turtles' aquarium. The turtles are a small Red-Eared Slider (approximately 6"), and a small Mississippi Mud Turtle (approximately 5"). Our tank size is long and relatively shallow (30" long, 12" wide and 12" tall). My main reason I purchased the log was to provide an always-available basking/floating spot for our Mississippi Mud Turtle. Our slider is rather mischievous, and has a tendency to "undo" any kind of basking spot that we would erect in the tank.PRICE: Amazon's price for this product was approximately $10 less than I found in a big-name pet store. Big plus.SIZE: I purchased the SMALL size Zoo Med Floating Aquarium Log. The dimensions of the small Zoo Med Floating Aquarium log are 7.5 x 4.2 x 5.5 inches. I erred on the side of caution and purchased a size small enough that it could not get lodged and stuck the wrong way in our aquarium, to prevent the turtles from becoming trapped (based on concerned in other floating log buyers review's). I was concerned the "small" size would be too small for both turtles to enjoy. I was very pleasantly surprised to find both turtles can use it (one inside, one on top basking) at the same time!FLOAT-ABILITY: So for the float-ability (therefore constant-usability) of the log, I give an A+! Our log usually rests upon the top of the aquarium rocks when one or both turtles are using it, or floats about when neither or one is in it. The water level in our tank is usually between 5-7". Our reclusive Mississippi Mud Turtle likes to get inside of the log and use one of the 3 holes (one on top, one on each side) for an occasional breather. The slider likes to bask on top. It is properly weighted so that the 3 breathing/peeking holes are located at the top and sides of the log (not on the bottom...in other words it stays right-side-up) Even if the weight of both turtles causes the two side holes to be submerged, the top hole is always available for our hiding turtle to peek his head out and get a breath if needed.ISSUE: My ONLY complaint/issue with our small Zoo Med Floating Aquarium Log is that it seems to grow algae and get "mucky" and slimy faster than the rest of our aquarium features. It is always the first aquarium feature that gets green from algae. Algae is an annoyance and eyesore in my personal opinion. Scrubbing the log "clean" does not completely get rid of the algae, but temporarily controls it. I have also added an algae-controlling water conditioner to the tank water that helps.Overall, the pluses of this product outweigh the one issue I have with it, and its issue is certainly not big enough for me to stop using my turtle log. My turtles love it!I did choose the smaller of the logs based on some reviews concerning the log getting wedged the wrong way in the tank and the turtles getting stuck.
