I used a handful of these to install some aftermarket gauges on my van. Still going strong a couple of years later. No complaints.

So I used this in my 09 VW EOS because I was installing a pioneer dual din deck with a back up camera. So I found out that on the actual plug that goes to the radio had 2 power wires that were constantly live so I ran one to the yellow which I the constant that retains the settings and I ran the red wire which is switched ignition to the fuse panel because i had found a fuse that turns off when the ignition is turned off that's where this add a circuit came in. I not only added that wire to it but I added the positive for the back up camera's relay as well. So the reason for the relay was that these newer cars like the EOShas a canbus system. So I found out most if not all the wires are low current and it also sends pulses out to the light bulbs while the car is running to sense when a bulb is burnt out or not connected. So when I used the add a circuit to a stable 12v source on the fuse panel the end result was no modification to any of the wires and the deck turns on and off when I kill the ignition and the back up camera works flawlessly also. I highly recommend this product because it makes it so much more simple as well as less of a rats nest or wires.

Great product, must have for auto electrical work. The tap hold 2 fuses one for the OEM circuit and one for your project. The only problem I ran into was space in the fuss box, I had to be creative in making the adapter fit. The kit comes with 15amp mini fuses. You will need a fuse the is suited for the circuit you are installing. I was pulling off a 20amp OEM circuit but I installed a 5amp for my project. So I use 2 fuses in the tap, one 20amp and one 5amp fuse.

Great little invention, works great! But note: On my new 2019 Subaru Outback ( not sure how many brands??) the mini fuse technology has changed and been re-designed. When I pulled the mini fuse out of the fuse block, it has changed and is a new design. The adaptor works great and saves from having to cut and tap into the cars wire harness! "The surprise" was the mini-fuse has changed. There is now a solid molding between the tabs and the fuse link is now between the tabs. Looks like the goal was to "shrink" the molding to make the fuse even smaller. THERE IS A NEW CLASS of fuses coming your way ( Mini fuse 2 or whatever??). I did not want to use the 15 amp Blue fuse that comes with the adaptor so went to the auto store to get a 5 amp fuse. The 7.5 amp fuse I pulled would not fit into the adaptor. The adaptor slots work great and plugs directly into the car fuse block. I hard wired my radar detector and Garmin GPS (did not want to use the cigarette lighter socket).. Again, this is a great and easy way to get power off your MINI FUSE BLOCK without damaging any of the car wiring. Assume on pre-2019 cars the mini fuse blocks have not changed over to the new fuses?

The fit and finish of the fuse holder part and the included fuses are not the best, but you get 10 of these. I don't know what to do with the rest of them, but, hey, better value, eh?Installed in my Mazda for blackvue dash camera with standby battery which required a connection to both switched and unswitched connections. Cut off the connector and soldered to necessary wires with shrink tubing, and all works well. I don't know what these were originally designed for but wire gauge is over built for a 15A circuit, which is a good thing. Just note that radar detector and dash cam wiring will use much smaller gauge wiring so soldering and heat shrink will probably be required unless you have miscellaneous connectors laying around. These seem like a much better solution than sticking a bare wire in to the circuit and pinching it with a fuse; or using a vampire tap.The fuse holder is tight so you will need some force to get fuse in to it. So prepare to do this before installing this item in to fuse box.
