I wanted to add a really cool faux finish to my kitchen paint job. I did a lot of research on different products and settled on this one. I used some packing tape to rub over the lambswool to remove any loose pieces before I got started. I put down my base coat, and then I mixed glazing liquid with a second color of paint. I put dabs of the glaze onto the wall and then I used this product to kind of buff it on. It turned out really great and it even covered up where I hadn't done such a great job painting. I absolutely love the results and I am so very happy I got this.

Applicator plus 3 lambskin that velcro attach. Some skins are thicker than others. Applicator is not flimsy. Very durable and thick. Solid.

1) Choose two colors, about 3-5 colors apart on your color strips. For economizers, you could take two leftover buckets of paint.2) Divide your paint tray in half, with sturdy tape or heavy foil.3) Using a fairly thick six-inch wide brush, dip the brush in water each time you add paint.4) Dip half the brush into the left side of the tray while dipping the other side into the right side.5) Apply this paint in a back-and-forth X shape, adding water each time you dip into the paint.6) While the paint is still wet, stipple it with this natural lambskin.7) If the lambskin acquires too much paint, dab it on an unpainted part of the wall or cardboard.8) Rinse and fluff with fingers, but do NOT add soap.

Using this with latex glazes and then cleaning with cool water asap has left us with a soft and fluffy applicator time and again. In cases where any water based paint seems stubborn to remove, we soak in alcohol and water ( which also removes latex from most fabrics, but be sure not to use warm or hot water and spot test anything dyed before using overconfidently. This applicator is something we use to move around and remove glaze, rather than apply it, so instead of of sloshing it in the glaze tray, we use a cheap 4” wide brush to apply glaze and then use this quality fluffer to create a cloudy pattern. Used to use fabric, before we found this.. so this thing is a real boon and great addition to our kit! Highly recommended!!

This is a solid handle with three natural lambswool pads. The size is generous making your project easier for large areas and of course faster. I read a review about shedding, I didn't have that problem with the pads... I'm using them to faux paint a sub floor with texture to make it look less like painted plywood. The room is quite large, so I really appreciate the size of the pads to help me along. I'll be ordering more of these pads for more projects!

I received the three faux pads and applicator handle. Once I opened the bag was instantly disappointed, the hairs had floated out too. Reminded me of when my cat sheds. I cannot fathom using them to stain or polyurethane anything, as the hairs would ruin my hard work.Running my hand over it to feel how smooth or soft the pad were, the first thing that occurred was the significant amount of shedding from one of the pads. I saturated the pad with water, squeeze it dry and still it sheds. Check out the picture.The instructions say to remove any loose fibers before first use. If it’s faux lambswool, then it should have been made effectively so that it doesn’t have to shed. Good idea horrible execution.I had anticipated that these would make staining and polyurethane my project easier, but I won't be using them. At this price I would have expected a higher quality product. Rating it with 1 star is generous.

This applicator is very light weight and one side has sharp square corners and the other side has rounded corners. It comes with 3 lambskin patches and attaches to the applicator by hooks and loops. I have not used it for paint application for faux finishes, but I got this applicator for wood furniture polishing and it does an amazing job and makes my job much easier and keeps my hand clean from all the oils and allows me to control application better than electric polishing pads.
