I recently purchased this replacement battery for my Garmin Nuvi GPS, hoping to breathe new life into my trusty navigation companion. At first glance, things seemed promising. The battery slid into place without a hitch, fitting snugly in the device as if it were made for it. Kudos to the manufacturer for nailing the dimensions - at least they got that right.Initially, the battery appeared to function as expected. It charged up without any issues, and I was excited to put it to the test. As luck would have it, I had a camping trip planned, which seemed like the perfect opportunity to see how this new power source would perform in the field.Throughout the trip, the Garmin Nuvi operated smoothly, guiding us through winding back roads and helping us discover hidden gems off the beaten path. The battery held up admirably, lasting through our entire weekend adventure without needing a recharge. At this point, I was cautiously optimistic about my purchase.However, my satisfaction was short-lived. After returning home, I left the Garmin unused for about a week - not an unreasonable amount of time for a device that isn't used daily. When I went to program our next destination for a day trip, I was met with disappointment. The battery had completely drained, which seemed odd given its recent use and the relatively short period of inactivity.Thinking it just needed a quick charge, I connected it to the official Garmin charging cable. To my dismay, the battery refused to accept a charge. The GPS unit itself powered on and functioned while plugged in, but it was clear that the battery was no longer holding any charge whatsoever. It had essentially become a paperweight, rendering my GPS useless without constant connection to a power source.Adding insult to injury, I made this frustrating discovery just days after the return window had closed. The timing couldn't have been worse, leaving me stuck with a defective product and no recourse for a refund or exchange.In the interest of fairness, I'll give credit where it's due. The battery did work for a short while, and the installation process was indeed straightforward. However, I can't help but wonder if the ease of installation says more about Garmin's user-friendly design than the quality of this particular battery.All things considered, I can only justify giving this product two stars. While it showed initial promise, its rapid decline and ultimate failure make it impossible to recommend. If you're in the market for a replacement battery, my advice would be to look elsewhere or perhaps consider investing in a new GPS unit altogether. The brief period of functionality simply isn't worth the frustration and wasted money in the long run.

The battery looks a little bit smaller than the original one. It did not come with the double side tape so I reused the old tape. Put the new battery in but it won't power up. May be the battery is too old and all power has been discharged. Will recharge the until tonight and see if this fixed the problem

Used this in an older GPS unit that was getting sluggish. Would be balky, and slow to start. Works much better now. Power plug in car came loose, and it was quite some time before the GPS low battery warning came on. Previously, it would just die when that happened.

This battery works the same as the original.Not too hard to install, you need a T5 torx bit. Remove the 4 screws then slowly go around the seams with a small flathead screwdriver. Carefully lift up on the battery connector and remove the old one. Transfer the double sided tape from the old battery to the new one.Battery life seems to be the same as the original. I get about an hour or so out of the new one at full brightness with bluetooth and maximum volume. It does fully charge to 100%. mAh is claimed to be the same as the original, but I haven't tested that. Slightly smaller than the original.One star docked because the lack of double sided tape, otherwise a good deal and works well.

Installation is a little tricky. You almost need skills of a surgeon, but just go gentle and slow and all we be well. The wire connector is the trickiest part. It is very small. A magnifier may be required if your close vision is not great.Before you get a battery, make sure your charging cable is good.

You do not include the double faced tape to hold battery. I had some although it was not a tough as the original. Don't know how well it will work. I don't know what the battery life will be, as I am charging it now. It appers to have a charge though.

Replacement battery for Garmin 2597LMT. I had to buy a mini screwdriver set because no one I knew had the 5 mm Torx that I needed. But once I got that, the replacement was easy. I did watch the YT video but the only new info it conveyed was that I should remove and re-use the two sided tape that secured the old battery. So no real need to buy the battery replacement kit with video and the screwdriver, instead I got a whole new driver kit that may come in handy in the future, for about the same price combined with the battery price. And no left over specialty equipment that I would never use again. Way better than buying a new gps which are not nearly as common as they used to be, so they can keep the prices higher. I guess I just don't like using my phone for everything, and from what I see with others, the phone gps apps are not as good as the dedicated gps unit.TL/DR Popped the battery into the 2597LMT and it started right up and got location, even without plugging it into the car.
