I purchased these for that very purpose- have a couple of cheapie basses that the nuts are just a little too high. These are all angled/ tapered, so I don't see how they could do a decent job as a nut file. Giving three stars as they're cheap, and it doesn't hurt to have a set of small files around.

I'm not a luthier or professional guitar tech, but I do know how to do basic setups on my basses. I wanted something cheap to file down the nut slots on my bass. The files seem to be of good quality and did a great job filing down the nut slots. It was just what I needed. They are not the highest quality files out there, but if you want to do light filing on your guitar, these do just fine. Great price as well!
