The female to female RJ45 ethernet lan cable coupler is used to turn the standard CAT5/5e/6 patch cord into the waterproof type for the ethernet connecting in the harsh industrial or outdoor environments. A gasket seal provides optimum protection from moisture and other contaminants with an IP68 rating. Using the standards based RJ45 connection system insures compatibility with existing hardware. The shielded coupler maintains the shield continuity offering protection from EMI/RFI interference.

These connectors were more solid a better built than the pictures show. It's certainly a quality part, worth the money.The supposed "water resistant" outdoor connections for Lorex cameras were nowhere near as effective as this part. After cutting off the supplied connector and crimping on RJ45 ends this connector provides a MUCH better seal.Only note: Popping the rubber seal out of the end -connector, placing it around your network cable and then re-seating it back in the "teeth" without breaking/damaging them (see photos) takes a bit of finesse and practice. It was a bit of fun working with them on top of a 15-foot ladder. Once you've done it a few times, though, it's not bad enough to give it a lower rating.Otherwise, it's easy to install over your existing connectors, even "booted" RJ45's without much fuss (see photo).
