The 117-1018 replacement V-Belt for my old Toro 22" lawnmower fit perfectly & provides SO MUCH MORE mowing power than the old, worn out belt. Great product!

Installed on my Toro 22 recycler with Kohler engine and brought the FWD back to life. Didnt realize how slow it was before. About 8 years of use with the previous band. The new band seems to work just fine. I did receive the chinease labeled product but the quality seemed fine.

My self-propel lawn mower was no longer self-propelling. Did some research and checked the cable, and sure enough it was frayed. Replaced it with this one, and sure enough, it fixed the problem 100%, now my lawn mower takes off on me, and it's suddenly much easier to mow! Such a cheap fix!

>>> I purchased this belt, when a Kohler 117-1018 belt was scheduled to take nearly a month to reach me. But the Kohler arrived first. So, I installed the Kohler --- but this belt appears to be identical in size and shape, and should work just as well---> Identical in size to a Kohler 117-1018 beltINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSIt is important to perform the following steps in EXACTLY this order. All of the steps are necessary, there are no shortcuts.> For safety, you should unhook the spark plug wire.> Tip the lawnmower to the right, so that the carburetor and gas tank are "up". If you don't have a workbench, a couple of milk crates (ideally 4) are helpful, including one for a seat, and one to support the mower handle.NOTE: The LOWER plastic drive-belt guard (underneath the lawn mower) is held in place by two screws. The UPPER plastic drive-belt guard (on the deck, or top, side) is held in place by four screws, two of which are the screws for the LOWER guard.> Remove the two bolts on the underside of the mower, holding the LOWER plastic drive-belt guard. The bolts are obvious. Requires 3/8" socket and socket wrench with an extension and ideally also a "screw driver" like socket handle to more quickly remove the screws after they are loosened.> Remove the remaining two bolts holding the UPPER plastic drive-belt guard. The bolts are on the underside behind the drive gearbox which will be to your upper left.> From the deck (top side), unhook the spring of the clutch link. This spring is above the drive gearbox, next to the pulley. Requires pliers and a strong grip, or a special tool.> Remove the three screws of the black-metal pulley-guard. The screws require an about 1/8" square male driver.> Unhook/remove the old drive belt from the pulley, which gives you the slack to pull it over the lawnmower blade. It is NOT necessary to remove the blade.> Install a new drive belt in EXACTLY the reverse order.>> That includes installing the screws for the upper plastic guard before the screws for the lower guard. The screws (which go behind the gearbox) are shorter. Leave them loose (do not tighten).>> The screws for the lower belt guard are longer, and have a shoulder, and go through the lower guard, through a hole in the deck and screw into the upper plastic guard.>> Then tighten all four of the plastic guard screws.----LOOKING FOR PARTSThe greatest challenge when looking for parts is figuring out whether your 22" FWD Toro came with a Kohler engine, or a Briggs and Straton engine (and in either case, trying to find out the engine model) --- the documentation which came with my Toro, does not specify that information.Specifically my model 23278 (which is NEVER listed among "this part fits these models ....") takes:ENGINE PARTS IN GENERAL look for Kohler XT650 or XT675 EngineSPARK PLUG -- Kohler 490-250-K016AIR FILTER -- look for Kohler XT650 or XT675 Engine, 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" X 5/8" thickDRIVE BELT -- Kohler 117-1018
