Compact 110VAC Stick Welder. This welder uses Inverter technology and is a light weight, compared to the older 220 transformer designs. LED display is clear, easy to read even with your helmet, and the controls simple to operate. The internal control system made it easy to start and keep an arc stable. The control has a good tactile feedback even through gloves. I found the cables length for Ground and Weld Rod to be a little short. The machine is so small and light repositioning to the bench solved that problem. ABS handle lets you take it directly to the work. Other accessories like a spool gun let you do MIG but it wasn’t available for this review. Came with some rods, but first timers you still need, gloves, apron, helmet, and some work to practice on. Tested with 7014 rod on hand. Weld performed under less than ideal conditions (outside) and still got Good penetration and bead formation. Great little box.

I never thought anything would keep my other half so occupied. He has used this daily for his projects at home. Gets value for the money! Small in size and easy to use

The welder seems to work for small jobs on steel, but I learned after I bought it and its companion spool gun, that it cannot weld aluminum, the purpose for which I bought it in th3e first place.

It has been a few decades since I have used a stick welder. I have been looking for a small machine to carry in our toyhauler for emergency repairs on toys or RVs. This came up during a search and decided to pull the trigger. Having not used a stick welder in decades, I was a bit apprehensive as I was actually looking for a small mig machine.I unpacked the machine. No frills packing but protected. Can easily repack in the same box to store without problems.Went about setting it up to weld. Used a 20' 12g extension cord. Used one of the CHE422 rods that came with the machine to get started adjusting the amps. Got a decent arc at 80 amps. Went through that rod and decided to use 1/16" 6013 rod that I got at HF after I ordered this machine. Ran a couple practice welds on some 1/8" thick 1" square tubing. Then got two 1/8" plates and ran a weld. All welds were at 80 amps. Did a strength test on the weld and the plate bent and the weld did not. I was surprised! The weld is far from perfect. Only used 5 rods for practice and the picture weld. Each 1/16" rod yields a weld 2 to 3 inches on 1/8" plate. The 6013 rods are 10" long and the CHE422 are 12".Based on welding on one setting and using 1/8" thick stock, this machine did surprisingly well. With some more practice and amp tweaking, welds and penetration will definitely improve. Going to larger rods may help as well. This is a great small project / repair welder. It will be great for the toyhauler as it is light (just under 5.5 lbs) and takes up little space. A welding helmet will take up more space than this! Worth the money in my opinion. Longevity may be an issue if this machine is used regularly. but who knows. The instruction manual states it is a 110/220 machine. A picture on the description shows a sticker by the power cord showing this. This machine has a sticker that only states 110. Looking through the manual did not indicate how to run 220. I'm ok running 110. If I need 220, I'll pull out the mig machine.May look into the spool gun in the future.

I ordered this welding machine for small projects and repairs on our farm, and it was an excellent choice. It is relatively user-friendly and great for beginners. It is a convenient small size, which allows us to carry it to different areas of the farm with no problem. It is reliable and a great addition to our equipment.
