My temperature meter didn't work and so I bought the new probe but meter still didn't work. Took it to a repair place and was told the meter I bought was a dud. By the time I figured this out it was too late to return it. Waste of money.

These probes are extremely cheap and cheaply made. Instead of two long continuous pieces of thermocouple wire, the thermocouple wire in the yellow cable is attached at the handle to the thermocouple wire in the tube. Unfortunately, it's attached with nothing more than a few twists and two pieces of shrink tubing.Pull too hard on the yellow wire, and pop ---- the yellow cable seprates from the sensor wire. When you're using it, it sometimes will read "open" because the twisted contact under the shrink tubing isn't tight enough to keep them attached. If you get on in which the wires actually touch, congrats, it's a k thermocouple. It's not hard to make a thermocouple. It's literally the junction point where two wires of two specific materials touch.I had to strip back the fiberglass insulation and re-connect the wires in mine. I don't have a welder, so I twisted them together in two "western union splices" using a microscope and tweezers, then shrink wrapped the splices. Yes, it works now. Yes, it's still cheap. If only they were using spot welders to join the two cables, this would be a perfectly good, cheap, probe.

I picked this up from inside my tool bag and it cracked inside the stem of the probe. Pretty cheesey.

First probe either intermittent or gave ridiculous temperatures. Returned for replacement. Replacement probe work okay.UPDATE, 10-26-2022: Probe dead after two month's use to monitor shower temperature. Ordered another probe, since past 30-day return window. It's only $10 so not the end of the world, but I have decreased my rating from 3 stars to 1 star due to unreliability.

Readings is spot on with my other K-type probes. Coiled cord is fairly stiff so this is great for applications where your electronic thermometer is very close to your sample. If you think you need this to stretch out a couple of feet, then you may want to consider a different model.
