These screw extenders are very handy. They fit perfectly with my camera and tripod. The D-ring design makes it easy to attach and remove.

If you tend to misplace these, it's always good to have a few on hand as spares. The gold one is designed for a bottom case that does not have to be removed like a digital camera. The silver one has a small D ring that swings down for tightening or loosening, more suitable for a film camera since you have to remove case for a film change. Both work well on the cameras I use and are machined nicely and have a standard tripod thread so you don't have to remove your case.
